Potty Mouth Society has been bringing the rock to the Northwest punk scene for many years. Self-described curators of beer-goggle punk, Potty Mouth Societys official stance as drunk-punk-fun-guys-at-the-party belie the intelligence of their music. Their satirical, socio-politically-tinged songs bring to mind Black Flag, Bad Religion, The Dwarves, mid-70s era Kiss and the heaviness of Black Sabbath. PMS manage to combine the energy, literacy and attitude of Left Coast Punk with the guitar-hero histrionics of the originators of todays metal.
The current lineup of Phill T. Cock (vocals), Tim Idiot Cock (bass, vocals), Endo Cock (drums, vocals) and H-Bomb Cock (guitar, vocals) has finally seemed to settle in after numerous personnel changes. PMS started out with the two-guitar attack of Phill T. and H-Bomb, but dedicating Phill T. full time to the Lead Vocal position has proven to be the key to the band coming together as a unit. When Tim Idiot replaced Ades on bass, he added energy and some metal-esque thunder to their sound. Endo's drumming is both in the pocket and powerful, accentuating the increasingly complex song arrangements. Lyrically, they run the gamut from raging against yuppies posing as scenesters ("Cocaine Cowboy") to mainstream society's addiction to the soft-core "scandals" that fill out the schedules of today's news broadcasts ("Pornographic TV"). The song "Descent" manages to combine an anti-Fascist rant with an anti-Bolero musical arrangement and not seem trite.
