Rokhsan has been writing her own material since she discovered love. As cliche as it may sound, it starts many of us off on our musical journies. So, love popped into her tiny mind and she wrote a song to express her feeling, along with this came that complete appreciation and pride of her parents who willed her to continue.
To this day she has studied music at both Thames Valley Uni (HND Music) and the Academy of Contemporary Music ( 1st Class BAHons Popular Contemporary Music in Vocals). Rokhsan has had one her more bubbly songs (Bubble Bath) featured on the Aretha Franklin CD on the Sunday Express, of which 2.1 million copies were sold.
Rokhsan has a single being released in August some time (tbc) on Indie label Worst Case Scenario, which will be her first release and WOOP WOOP she cant wait!!! 7" double A-side with her songs on it....what a dream come true.....
Rokhsan was 1 out of 6 finalists in the 2007 MBF Songwriting Competition. This was a valuable experience for her as she gained many contacts and much confidence in her songwriting abilities.
Rokhsan was also selected as a finalist for the BBC 2 NEW TALENT SONG-WRITING ACADEMY and WON!!!! Sacha Skarbec (Co-writer of No.1 UK hit 'Beautiful') contacted Rokhsan to inform her of her success and has selected to write with her in early June. She is extremely excited!! GLASTONBURY 2008!!!! BBC INTRODUCING STAGE!!! ARGH!!!! Was sweeeeeet.
BESTIVAL 2008 HERE WE COME!!!!!
Her ambitions include spreading her musical love around the world through record sales and touring. To help, heal and inspire people through her music and to generally create joy and happiness!!
"Rokhsan Heydari, one of the finalists in the 2007 MBF Songwriting Awards the other week, was on next and captured the audience with her charm and personality. She plays guitar and piano and is a bit urban, but without the exaggerated Kate Nash accent (most people in Croydon don’t sound like that). “Maria” and “Like The Sun That Shines Each Day” highlighted her versatility and the audience fell for her totally, which they would have done even if she wasn’t very good. She says that songwriting is her first priority, but don’t neglect the punters, Rokhsan; they love you."- Peter Coulston (Backstage Pass)
"I just love those rare moments when I come across a track that inspires me to write music, it doesn’t happen often but it did today when I listened to Rokhsan Heydari’s latest track on SellaBand called “Black Room”. I must get to one of her gigs soon.
I think what I like about her music is it’s simplicity, great chord progressions and a truly unique voice. I hope people start picking up on her as this kind of stuff truly deserves to get to $50K"- Taff (Sellaband)
"Rokhsan has it all. Beautiful voice, amazing melodies and a very very good stage presence. Rokhsan Heydari is gonna take 2008 by surprise"- Giles (Zwoel, Sellaband)
