Hailing from the Midwest, where there is little opportunity for musicians to thrive, few bands survive very long and give up hope. Since forming in 1999, Pound for Pound has proven themselves to be one of the hardest working bands around. Influenced by metal and hardcore, they have managed to create a unique sound of their own combined with bleak lyrics. The band’s music provides an angst-filled soundtrack for the broken and beaten.
2001 saw Pound for Pound’s first release, “Better You than Me,” which was released by the band with no label support. Later that year, they set out on their first tour across the east. Pound for Pound would go on to have various songs on a few different compilations over the next few years. Over the years, there have been many lineup changes. The new additions would shape the sounds of the band for years to come.
In 2006, after finally taking time off from touring, Pound for Pound finally recorded their long awaited follow up album to “Better You than Me.” With help from Surprise Attack Records, they released “For Our Fallen Brothers.”
Touring once again for the release of the new album would bring on another lineup change. The band took a short break and added new members in late 2006.
In 2007, along with extensively touring the U.S., Pound for Pound made their way across the Atlantic Ocean to tour Europe for the first time. After a successful year, the band is preparing to record a new record in 2008.
