The story starts in the beginning of the nineties. At that time a young band in the surrounding area of Bremen, Germany started to play complex and heavy, though quite melodic music. At first the band’s inconvenient name Poverty’s No Crime was something people had to get used to, however, it was very catchy on the other hand. From the beginning the direction was straight upwards on the ladder of success: a first place in a band contest, a demo production, euphoric reactions from the music press and an international record deal came as a matter of course. Progressive metal had become extremely popular through the commercial success of bands like Dream Theater, Fates Warning or Queensryche. All of a sudden Poverty’s No Crime stood right in the middle as the German representative of this genre.
Today, seventeen years later, after touring throughout Europe, small line-up changes, the well known ups and downs of a career and by now six released albums, at least one thing has not changed at all: Poverty’s No Crime still stands for complex and heavy music which is packed with intoxicating melodies. This is more than ever evident on the latest album release “Save My Soul”. It was produced together with Tommy Newton who has been working successfully for bands like Helloween or the Guano Apes in the past. The international music press showed extremely positive reactions and “Save My Soul” received also massive support by the fans in every poll it appeared. Whatsoever has been a strength of the band it can be found on this record: impulsive melodic metal, complex structured progressive metal and a precisely arranged ballad. Just right for music-lovers with an enthusiasm for rock music.
For the month to come the musical concept of “Save My Soul” will be brought onto stage by the band. After a couple of years without regular touring and live appearance the constantly growing fan base gets a chance to personally assure themselves about the live qualities of the band.
