The band Powder Train is a musical group formed out of San Jose, Ca in 2006. The band is heavily influenced by artists and bands ranging from The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Doors, to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Mars Volta. Powder Train incorporates musical styles such as Jazz, Blues, and Funk, as well as elements of Latin music and proggressive rock. Members of Powder Train include lead singer and lyricist Elijah James Sariñana, who's vocal style lays firmly in the vein of r&b and soul. Guitarist Rolando Gomez Jr., who made the switch from cello to guitar at age 14, sites classic and modern cinema as crucial influences in his playing and song writing. On Bass is Douglas F. Soper, largely influenced by cinematography and Acting, Douglas' approach to the bass is focused more on interpretation and atmosphere as opposed to the more typical root and scale. Drummer Angel Lopez, blind since birth has also adapted his own approach to his instrument. First educated in the art of Jazz drumming, Angel has since accumulated the ability to play a laundry list of styles and genres as well as being versed in latin percussion. The Band is currently playing throughout the Bay Area and continues to work diligently on expanding their fan base. Welcome to Powder Train.
