Others we listen to are Old' Mobb Deep, Tribe called Quest, Uncle Howe Records, Stones Throw Records, Beat Junkies, Up All Night Show, Tony Touch, Gangstar/Premier, etc.....Metal, lot's of Metal... Old Metallica, Slayer, Venom, Brujeria......, Smiths, Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, Bellle and Sebastian, and Stereolab.
Hoffart, Elmendorf, Cab, White and Hawkins in about, every magazine over the months and years. I already know these guys kill it, so now it's my turn. I just wanna set up a Powell board and rip as hard as they do (out of my mind). But, I can try, by riding the boards and wheels they do in hopes for a miracle of heavenly radness. So, why not? It's about time to check out and understand the boards and gear, that keeps these guys so gnar.

Grip it, cut it. and set up the hardware. I was ready to get my shred on. The 'Hypnotic' series decks look pretty cool. Monotone tripped out graphics, that are in a good color way, makes my board look good. Plus, my axel nuts don't hang over (I'm psyched). First off, I step on my board and right away, I notice good concave under my feet (K12 concave). This board is a 7.75"x 31.25" deck. The overall shape is nice and straight with a nose and tail that are slightly on the thinner side. The boards thickness or ply's, you notice, appear thinner than most other brands. This is the 'Brite Lite' construction offered by Powell and, overall.. make my complete very light. I can ride my indy's and 54 Bones wheels and not deal with a weight-problem.
So far, the board is really responsive to any type of ollies. For me, any nollie trick I try, the board always sucks up to my feet. I feel like Danny Wainwright for a second. As long as I don't break it, were all good.
I've mostly skated street these past few weeks. In California most of the spots are smooth concrete, so boards can last a lil longer (not always the case). Over these few weeks I've sesh'd hours of flat ground, skated some chunky ledges, shralped the park for whole 2 days and skated this ruff 'o ditch. On top of that, I left my complete in the trunk of my car during a recent afternoon heat wave (this will ruin all good set ups). My trucks were jacked, but, to my suprise, my board still sounded pretty good. Must be the glue? Sounds like a super board right...I cannot comment on that. It's weird though, at some spots my board will sound really crispy and at others sound kind'a soft. When I think this board is almost done, it will suprise me with some extra pop. But,dude! This board has been really killer. At this point in my boards life, there is surly some life left. I will most likely get another few weeks of skating or more before my board gets the hand-me-down. You know, you can't just take my word for it. Next time your at the Skate Shop, ask for the Powell Brite-Lites or Strobe series and find out for yourself.
