Tony Nesbitt-Larking
"With a flare for propulsive breakbeats, drummer Tony Nesbitt-Larking edges the band closer to a twee Mars Volta..." reviewer Chris Bilton of Eye Weekly, reviewing Population by The Most Serene Republic.

"Throughout the show the blistering drums gave the music a math-rock feeling without being annoying. Really it was an incredible display of intensely technical percussion executed with a musician’s patience. As a drummer myself, I was instantly drawn to Tony Nesbitt-Larking’s skill, but as a musician I was blown away by the his ability to stay on even footing with the rest of the band; never showing off, never taking focus off the entire show experience." reviewer Adam Hawkins of the website http://mel.opho.be/, commenting on Tony Nesbitt-Larking's drumming during The Most Serene Republic's show @ Middle East Upstairs in Boston on Mar. 22, 2008.

Sounds Like
An avant-garde jazzman and his progressive rock alter ego having a chat with 'their' (or should it be 'his'?) latin and folk sidekicks.
I'm Tony Nesbitt-Larking, the sole member (thus far, that is...) of the band Power Through Time. I'm a 24-year old drummer/guitarist/vocalist/composer, based out of Toronto.
In addition to my own project, I make a living doing session work, lending my musical expertise to a variety of musical settings, including those of rock, jazz, pop, folk, blues, funk, fusion, classical, music theatre (pit orchestra), and progressive-rock.
I graduated from the Etobicoke School Of The Arts in 2003, with a diploma in music. A couple of years later, after playing on the scene with various Toronto groups, including the rock band Running Against Radar, I started doing the Bachelor Of Contemporary Jazz program at Humber College (2005). I completed my first year there with honours. In the summer between my first and second years, I started playing with the prog-rock band The Most Serene Republic, and decided to do that full time, putting my studies on hold for awhile. I joined them in the summer of 2006, and played/recorded/toured with them up until the summer of 2008, leaving to pursue my own projects and the session work realm. For a reference of my drumming/percussion work with The Most Serene Republic, check out the album Population, which was released in October of 2007. There are plenty of live shows of the band on youtube, so you could check out a few of those as well.
I'm always looking for talented musicians to play/compose/record with, so feel free to send me a message on myspace, and we'll take things from there. My fees/rates are subject to each individual project at this point. In the meantime, please check out my songs. Comments are encouraged. Peace!

Gotta love the Hendrix! By the way did you hear about Mitch Mitchell dying? Sad times. I'll buy The Way Up on iTunes, can't go wrong with Pat Metheney! He's awesome! As long as we can get some blues in there we can jam for the rest of time! Blues is where my heart lies now, I go to a jam every Wednesday night near me and it's really fun =] Will keep you updated on any Jazz finds, I guess you've heard of Louis Jordan? If not I suggest you check him out! He's more rhythm and blues than Jazz but I've been listening to him loads recently, it's real easy listening stuff
Will pass on the love, as long as you send some from us to you all over there! Wow, I just looked on iTunes and he's done an album with Pat Metheny! I'm buying it, I love Pat Metheny; have you heard Bright Size Life? It's my second favourite album of all time! I've been listening to Billy Cobham recently, he's amazing! Yeah I'd love to jam, I still listen to the Running Against Radar CD sometimes! I really liked that, and I like the tune The Men Who Live Upstairs that you did with TMSR. Who did you hear about my guitar from? Take care too =] Joe
Great playing last night, Tony, and superb dynamics. Love your work on "Finding Voice" and the bonus track is a total "rockinindafreeworld" treat to the ears! So shine on you sane sapphire!
Hey Tony! How are you doing? I thought I'd let you know about someone, as I've heard how much you like Jazz! He's called Soweto Kinch and he's an English sax man, quite Coltrane-esque. I think you'll appreciate him, hope you stay safe Take care =] x
