Interests

  • General

Extreme-long-distance solo bike touring (a trip across the country would just be a short trip to me), Camping, hiking (have walked 2/3rds of the Appalachian Trail), helping others go the next level in their Faith Walk, Sharing the Good News about the MESSIAH, website design.
  • Music

I like mostly instrumental music from the Classics to Kraftwerk (German group that started in the 1970s and are considered to be the "Grandfathers of Elektronic Music" (synthesizors)(I would be interested to know if somebody ever remembers the No 1 hit song for Kraftwerk).
  • Movies

I haven't really had the time to go see that many movies. It's been well over a year since I've been to a movie theater. The last movie that I've watched with other people was Facing The Giants
  • Television

Can't very tote a television on a bicycle very well except for one with a very tiny screen. Anyway, a portable television wouldn't work because of the switchover to digital. I'm not that interested in any of the television shows that are on now except for maybe some shows on the Discovery Channel like Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs. I did like Bravo's Top Chef. I do have a liking to the older sci-fi shows like Alien Nation, Babylon 5, Earth: Final Conflict , Firefly .

About me:

One of the special awards that my ministry has been awarded. This was the only award given out in 2008 by Surflocal.net....

I hope that you enjoy the slide show above. These are pictures of me and a few of my bicycles taken between 1996 and 2008 and two pictures of a very special friend that I had between 1990 and 1993 (my golden hamster Schroeder). Schroeder is the one and only cycling hamster because he took a cross-country bicycle ride with me in 1992 from Spokane, Washington to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This space has actually been created to showcase my ministry.....

(..this is an active link to my ministry website. please visit..).

The word "Pedal" is an acronym for "Pray Every Day And Listen". We take a lot of time telling the L-RD our needs but we don't take the time to listen to what HE might have to say back to us. PEDAL also represents putting action into your faith as in James 2:14 "Faith without works (action) is dead". Millard Fuller (the founder and former president of Habitat for Humanity International and founder and president of the Fuller Center For Housing) is quoted to have said, "Faith without works is dead as a door nail".

In 1738, Benjamin Franklin in a letter to his father said "The scriptures assure me that at the last day we shall not be examined on what we thought but what we did." I am not in any way saying that doing only good works will save a person but good works should be an evidence of that person's faith.

Another key verse group for my ministry is Matthew 25:37-40 "Then those 'sheep' are going to say, 'Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me — you did it to me.' (From the MESSAGE)

During these 16 years (since Feb 19, 1993), I've been criss-crossing the United States by bicycle helping out after earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and wild fires by doing disaster relief, encouraging people to go the next level in their faith walk (no matter what their religious beliefs are) and being do'ers instead of just talkers, and promoting social action (expressing one's religious beliefs through personal action), and of course praying. I consider myself more of being a servant evangelist. Also along the way, I have been speaking at churches to persuade them in starting up and providing compassion ministries (like setting up clothes closets, food banks, or temporary shelters for people in need).

I have made 16 crossings of the United States and as of August 31, 2009 cycled 196,135 miles (313.816 KM) (a distance almost 8 times around the Equator or the equivalent of three-quarters the way from the Earth to the Moon) and have been in every state but Alaska and Hawaii and several provinces of Canada.

Mission Trip 19 started on Monday, March 23rd and ended on Monday, August 31th. During the 162 days that I was out, I rode 7,382.67 miles (11,812.42 KM) in 132 days at an average of 56.00 miles (89.60 KM) per day. I traveled through 30 states. From Southwest Florida, I rode to Central Florida; up the East Coast to Bangor, Maine; westward to Mitchell, South Dakota and Greensburg, Kansas, and back to Georgia through Oklahoma and Arkansas. Here is a slide show of some of the pictures that I took along the way. You can see the rest on my page at Picasa Web Albums.

I am on my seventh bicycle (3rd recumbent) and I now travel on a Easy Racer/Sun EZ-Speedster-SX 27-speed short wheel-base recumbent. I've had this recumbent since April 21, 2007 and have cycled over 27,789 miles (44,462 KM) on it so far (as of August 31, 2009).

I feel that I do very well for somebody who has some mild disabilities. I am hearing impaired in my left ear and I have some nerve damage in my arms and legs due to a serious luge (one man bobsledding) accident in 1981. In 2002, I had extensive surgery done on my left shoulder due to a major bike accident in New Hampshire. My front tire had blown out while I was coasting down a hill. By the grace of the L-RD, I was back on the bike less than two months after the surgery.

There is another part of my ministry and that is to help prevent the sexual exploitation of children on the internet. I have an extensive section on my ministry website on this (please check out "Special Cause"). Since 1995, I have helped in the shutting down of numerous child porn sites on the internet and am an active member of several international associations currently in this endeavor. Along with all of the above, I have designed websites for churches and ministries around the world.

A little biography and testimony. I was born outside of Bad Toelz. Bad Toelz is between Oberammergau and Munich in the SE corner of formally West Germany in the region of Bavaria. I was the first-born. I had two sisters and a brother. I was the oldest by five years. My family was Orthodox Jewish. When I was part of the family, there were only seven family members from both sides. My parents were survivors of the Holocaust. We moved to Munich around 1970.

During the 1973-1974 school year, I came to the US as an exchange student for 12th Grade. Before leaving the US, I took my first cross-country bike tour from Northwest Ohio to the Mississippi River and back on a Montgomery Wards 10-speed. Once back in Germany, I finished up my high school (Gymnasium education as we call it) and moved out of the family home to attend one of the universities in the Munich area. Just before Channukah (Festival of Lights) in 1975, something inside of me like a yetzer (an impulse) convinced me that I needed to pick up a Christian B'RIT CHADASHAH (New Testament) and find out whether the Messiah that was in this book was the same Maschiah that we Jews were waiting for.

While I was reading the Gospels of MATIT'YAH HA'LEVI (MATTHEW), YOCHANAN-MAKABI (JOHN), UR (LUKE), and YOCHANAN (JOHN) in the B'RIT CHADASHAH (NEW TESTAMENT), my eyes became opened and my heart became mended. I was convinced that the Messiah Y'SHUA (JESUS) in the these books was actually the HA-MASCHIAH and the GO'EL YISRA'EL (the Redeemer of Israel) that we Jews had been waiting and longing for.

I was totally convinced that I had to become a Follower of Y'SHUA (the Messiah). I didn't really have to convert straight to Christianity and give up being Jewish (I still eat kosher to an extent) but I became what you could call a Completed-Jew or a Messianic Jew. I became a YEHUDIM MESHIHIM who is a Jew that received the RUACH HAKODESH (HOLY SPIRIT) of ADONAI (the L-RD) that was given in Y'SHUA's Name.

During Pesach (Passover) 1976, I told my parents that I had become a Follower of Y'SHUA (the Messiah). My parents immediately rejected me and told me that I was no longer their son. They told everybody that I had committed suicide and they had a funeral for me and even placed a tombstone with my name on it in a Jewish cemetery. I was almost 20 at the time but there was no turning back for me. I finished my university studies, taught a year of 6th grade, and immigrated to the USA in 1979 and became a citizen in 1984. I was ordained as a minister in 1998 by an evangelical christian ministry based in the Augusta, Georgia area. More about my testimony can be read on my ministry website.

On Feb 11th, 1993, I had a vision (a dream) calling me back out on the road. In 1992, I cycled from Spokane, WA and Phildalphia, PA stopping along the way to help set up ecumenical social service centers. During the second week Feb of 1993, while I was a social worker with Catholic Social Services in Portland, Oregon, I had a dream about me touring some place on a bicycle. The same short dream occurred four nights in a row but the silence of the last dream was interrupted by one word "Go". Four days later on Feb 19, 1993, I heeded the call and started this adventure on two-wheels. It is hard to believe that the adventure started 16 years ago.

The adventure hasn't always been easy. Along the way, I've been hit by cars several times, robbed of money several times, beaten up, had two bicycles destroyed in vehicular accidents, had one bike and all of my gear and possessions taken away during what I call a "bike-jacking", had countless things thrown at me, and threatened.

This ministry has also been "Faith Based", which means that I do not have any regular monetary means of support. I have not or never will ask for any money to keep myself on the road so that is why you will not see anything asking for donations here. I've been sustaining myself on the loose change or currency that I find along side the road ("Road Manna") and the occasional Love Offering from churches or "Green Handshakes" from individuals. There has also been "In-kind Donations" like bicycle repairs or supplies, groceries, lodging, or meals.

My direct email address is pprayers(at)gmail.com .
....

Who I'd like to meet:

If you are talking about getting into some kind of relationship, I am not really interested in meeting somebody at the time. I tell everybody that if the L-RD wanted me to be married he would have provided somebody on their own set of two-wheels years ago. I am usually on the road between nine and twelve months out of the year so I don't settle down much.

With regards to friendship here on MySpace, any person no matter what their faith is who is really living out their faith (really "Walking the Walk" and not just "Talking the Talk").

The innocent victims of online child abuse cannot speak for themselves. But you can. Watch this video, then click on the "Light A Million Candles" graphic above the video to the right to light a candle of support at www.lightamillioncandles.com If you can't see the video here, click.... HERE

Out of the mouths of children great words of wisdom sometimes come. Lia (who was 12 years old at the time) gave this wonderful speech against Abortion to her Toronto, Ontario, Canada schoolmates. If only we had adults with this much wisdom in this country.

Eagle Crying For September 11th

ON MONDAY
A Tribute to 9-11

On Monday - there were people fighting against praying in schools.
On Tuesday - you would have been hard pressed to find a school where someone was not praying.

On Monday - there were people were trying to separate each other by race, sex, color and creed.
On Tuesday - they were all holding hands.

On Monday - we thought that we were secure.
On Tuesday - we learned better.

On Monday - we were talking about heroes as being athletes.
On Tuesday - we relearned what hero meant.

On Monday - people were fighting the 10 commandments on government property.
On Tuesday - the same people all said 'G-D help us all' while thinking 'Thou shall not kill'.

On Monday - people argued with their kids about picking up their room.
On Tuesday - the same people could not get home fast enough to hug their kids.

On Monday - people picked up McDonalds for dinner.
On Tuesday - they stayed home.

On Monday - people were upset that their dry cleaning was not ready on time.
On Tuesday - they were lining up to give blood for the dying.

On Monday - politicians argued about budget surpluses.
On Tuesday - grief stricken they sang 'G-D Bless America'.

On Monday - we worried about the traffic and getting to work late.
On Tuesday - we worried about a plane crashing into your house or place of business.

On Monday - we were irritated that our rebate checks had not arrived.
On Tuesday - we saw people celebrating people dying in the USA.

On Monday - some children had solid families.
On Tuesday - they were orphans.

On Monday - the president was going to Florida to read to children.
On Tuesday - he returned to Washington to protect our children.

On Monday - we emailed jokes.
On Tuesday - we did not.

It is sadly ironic how it takes horrific events to place things into perspective, but it has.
The lessons learned that week,
the things we have taken for granted,
the things that have been forgotten or overlooked,
hopefully will never be forgotten again.

On Monday - pray and be thankful
On Tuesday - pray and be thankful
On Wednesday - pray and be thankful
On Thursday - pray and be thankful
On Friday - pray and be thankful
On Saturday - pray and be thankful
On Sunday - pray and be thankful

It’s written right here on the tablets that hang on the wall of my heart. I can’t help but display it, for it’s been written here from the start. I fall with your teardrops. I dance when you laugh out loud. And I also hear your whispers as they carry in the clouds. I live here in the smile that dares stretch across your face when you reach out to another, full of loving grace. And even in a dark place where most would never go, I’ll venture past the deep if that’s where I find your soul. I run with my bag of hope until the day you fly. You’ll never know the impact you made until the day you die. Nothing is as beautiful. Nothing is as precious. Nothing is as beautiful as when I see the face of God in the face of you.
