“We’re Punch & Pie, don’t ask us why…” So kicked off a mid-August 2006 early performance of the band at one of Waupaca’s local watering holes. Almost exactly one year later Punch & Pie claimed first at the battle of the bands.
What immediately set the group off from countless other garage jam bands is the winning mix of their unique sound and original music – a style that calls on blues, funk, reggae and straight rock, with generous shots of strong lyrics and searing guitar solos. Although they also play a few covers (notably the always infamous "Peter Gunn"), they do it with such flourish they truly take over the music as their own.
Formed in July 2006, Punch & Pie, led by Josh Youngblood, has emerged quickly and solidly as one of central Wisconsin’s finest bands. The group is an outgrowth from more than a year’s worth of weekly open jam sessions, in which its current members found that musically they had much in common, despite a 30-year span between outside ages.
As they began playing shows in the Waupaca area, their popularity and success grew rapidly, attracting full-house crowds of serious dancing and air guitar fans wherever they played. They continue to pack the house at popular spots, including the Up and Under Pub, Renee's Red Rooster, Weasels, The Garage, Simpson’s Indian Room, and The Clearwater Harbor Bar.
This four-piece band offers one of the freshest and most original sounds in today’s music scene......................................
CONSIDER A GENEROUS SERVING OF PUNCH & PIE SOON!!!
