Prairie Dance Theatre (PDT) is a non-profit organization with a mission to teach dance and movement, especially to young children in the public schools of Oklahoma City.
Prairie Dance Theatre was founded by Beth Shumway in 1978. From 1978 until 2002, Prairie Dance Theatre offered concerts, children’s shows, workshops and residency work in Oklahoma and the surrounding ten-state region as a professional touring dance company.
· In the fall of 2003, we introduced The Prairie Dance Experience, a workshop designed for children ages seven through twelve in the Oklahoma City Public Schools.
· In 2006 we developed the Prairie Dance Theatre Youth Company (PDTYC).
· In 2007 we started an in-school dance fitness program through a grant from The Oklahoma City Community Foundation called Get Moving OKC!
PDT now has four successful programs:
-The Prairie Dance Expirience (PDE)
-The Pre-Youth Company
-The Prairie Dance Theatre Youth Company (PDTYC)
-Get Moving with Prairie Dance Theatre (GMwPDT)
PDT Youth company starring as the Gingerbread and Bakers in Nutcracker 2008
Who I'd like to meet:
