The Afters
The Afters are a powerful voice in the "CCM" world of music. Christian musicianship is usually divided into two extremes: one is either metal or worship. Pick one. The Afters however, are finding a medium as they succesfully write pop/rock music that leaves people singing along. They have a mainstream sound with songs such as "Myspace Girl". They have also recieved mainstream attention and have been seen on VH1 and MTV concert specials. There history is found in caffeine as they met at Starbucks. It's clear to say they are busy guys and need energy.
Josh Havens (frontman): "One thing we've heard a lot when we visit mainstream radio stations and MTV is that they were nervous knowing we were Christians, thinking we'd be condescending and judgmental. But instead they come around and enjoy working with us—'There's something different about you guys.'"
The Afters are currently touring all through August and September. Please keep them in prayer that they will have the words and actions to be a witness to the God they serve.

An idea: each of us probably has several bands listed as our friends. We're updated on their "status" on our home pages whenever they update their status. Keeping tabs on their status is a bit like keeping our ears open for prayer requests. For example, right now, the Afters' status is "tired." So, we should pray for their refreshment and strengthening, and anything that by God's Spirit we perceive to be an obstacle to that.

Dude, we are so in on what you are doing. Thank God and you for a brilliant idea. Can we adopt another band to pray for them? Wouldn't it be cool if churches started "adopting" bands in prayer--both well-knowns and unknowns?
This is a great idea! Thank you for including me. Good to hear from you. I love the band The Afters... I have met them personally and you are right...they are genuine! I was there the night they received "New Artist of the Year" in Nashville TN. Awesome. I still have my autographed T-shirt from Denver ;-)
