This is the Official Praying Hands MySpace. There's also theprayinghands.com
My name is Kevin. My last name is Roentgen. Chances are you'll have a tough time pronouncing it. It's German, like my dad. I've never met anyone with my last name. Doctors and dentists usually ask, "are you related to...?". "Great, great, great uncle", is the answer. Google it, if ya want. And, no we didn't get rich.
You guys that have been coming around here since I started on MySpace, pretty much know my story. If you're new, here it is in brief:
I sing. I play guitar. I write. I record my own songs. Sometimes I record myself doing other people's songs. And then, sometimes I record other people doing their own songs. I enjoy all of it!
I grew up in Sun Valley, a Los Angeles suburb at the northern end of the east San Fernando Valley, commonly known for it's auto salvage yards, such as "Pick Ur Part". I had my first band when I was twelve, called Black Taxi.
Fast forward a few years, bands and record deals later, I've just released my new 11-song album called Dogs and Airplanes. Two years ago I released The Acoustic EP, which was just a short run (1000 copies) of a five-song disc that I now feel was still a work in progress. For the new cd, I've reworked and rewritten those songs to where I'm now happy with them, plus added another six songs. Thank you to everyone who picked up a copy of the EP, and I hope you'll like the new album!
Dogs and Airplanes features some of my friends - David Brotherton on drums, Noah Shain also on drums, Jeffrey White playing cello and Kenny Pierce with bv's. I recorded the acoustic guitars and most of the lead vocal in London with the help of engineer Gordon Davidson, and the rest here in L.A. at my Lucha Bonita Estudio. I'm happy with the result. I hope you will be, too :)
Talk soon,
Kevin
