This season,Winter 2008
Preap & Coutts’ embraces Winter 08 with a decidedly mod silhouette, imbuing each piece with a distinct Andy Warhol Factory vibe. The muted and pastel insignia of 1950s fashion gives way to bold color and a signature palette of inky black, steel grey and milky creams, all punctuated by splashes of red and tartan. Reminiscent of Carnaby Street in the 1960s, the scarlet red and black-stripe shift dress flirts delicately, mid-thigh, with a hemline that could make Jean Shrimpton blush. Feminine bow details add an unexpected twist, ushering in the distinct attitude that “anything goes”.
And so it does. Fine merino wools sit comfortably alongside dreamy silks, creating rich, textured garments to suit anyone from the young professional to the everyday girl. Whether your mood is fanciful and flirtatious, or seriously dress-to-impress, the range provides the perfect winter wardrobe, no matter what game you’re playing…
Evoking memories of vinyl records, The Who and Tab soda, Preap & Coutts Winter 08 spoils with deliciously crafted A-line coats, featuring a savvy blend of over sized pockets, patent buttons, petite shawl necklines and hoods. A feature zip at the shoulder highlights a pared-back, drop-waist shift in a dress that’s both a little bit beatnik and a little bit flapper. It’s this fusion of fashion genres that lends the range its London vibe and versatility, allowing a delicate ashen silk shirt dress and a structured box pleat, tulip dress to sit at ease together in the same range.
For design duo Maryna Preap and Maggie Coutts Aiken, wear ability is the key. Their fastidious attention to detail reveals itself across the range – from the peak of tartan lining accentuating a jacket hood, through to the perfectly lazy drape of a cowl neck – with every piece telling a tale of innate quality and style.
Travel back in time with their creations to an era when skirts were short, hair was large and fashion was synonymous with fast living.

Who I'd like to meet:
Twiggy was the world's first supermodel: A skinny kid with the face of an angel who became an icon. 'She'll last a couple of weeks', a bystander quipped in 1967 when she took New York by storm. Thirty five years on and Twiggy is still a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world.
In early 1966, Lesley Hornby found herself propelled to the heights of international fame as the world's first supermodel - Twiggy. With her waif like figure, boyish hair cut and striking eye lashes she created an image that would epitomise an era. Twiggy became the idol for millions of teenage girls of the sixties revolution. By the age of 17, Twiggy was one of the most famous faces on the planet.
During the mid 1960's, Edie Sedgwick was the constant companion of pop artist, sixties icon and film-maker, Andy Warhol, and played a part in his early success. Edie became famous in New York as one of Andy Warhol's 'Superstars.'
Edie Sedgwick dazzled everyone with her beauty, style, glamour and wealth. She was a very bright and well spoken young lady, having a penchant for shopping.
During the period from 1963 until 1965, Edie featured in leading magazines such as Time, Life and Vogue. Warhol and Edie became close friends, and received substantial media coverage due to the fact that Edie accompanied Warhol everywhere, to parties at the factory, in Manhattan, and to leading Gallery Exhibitions. Edie added a touch of style and glamour to many art openings, which arguably, resulted in Warhol receiving much more media coverage than would have normally been reserved for an up and coming artist.
