| About Premier Entertainment |
|
----------------------------------
John Collins, Premier Entertainment founder, has been a staple in the Detroit Underground/House/Electronic scene for many years. While attending attending Wilberforce University, John deejayed his first party for his fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha, when the hired entertainment cancelled. It was the first time he played on two turntables and was hooked from the very beginning.
Upon returning to Detroit, John began spinning at parties here and there and his name began gaining recognition on the Detroit club scene. He was totally inspired by the sounds coming out of Detroit, New York amd Chicago House music.
In 1986, John was hired to DJ at probably the hottest and now legendary clun in Detroit at that time - CHEEKS. A year later he would be joined at Cheeks with the now legendary Jeff Mills. John's career as DJ has spanned twenty years and he has never been without a residency. He has DJ'd at the Lady, The Lansdowne, Joey's On Jefferson, The Warehouse, Times Square, The Parabox and The Palladium. Presently, appears at Lola's mpnthy, one of Detroit's hottest spots where he programs classics, house and early Detroit Techno. He was a Billboard Dance Chart Reporter for five (5) years.
In 1993, WJLB FM 98 in Detroit hired John as mix show DJ and broadcasted live from the Warehouse Hightclub. He was subsequently given the name of Jammin' John Collins by the late legendary Detroit Radio personality Chris McClendon. Artists/producers such as Mike Banks, Kevin Saunderson, K.Hand and Blake Baxter would bring their latest releases for John to program in his set. He programmed house, Detroit Techno and R & B. Five years later, John was given a mix show on WDRQ FM 93.1.
In 2oo2, John played at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, in 2005, at Fuse In- Detroit's Electronic Movement Festival. He has also appeared in Chicago, New York, throughout Europe and Tortola British Virgin Islands.
John also heads Premier Entertainment Booking Agency and represents international artists/DJs such as Juan Atkins, Eddie Fowles, Mike Banks Galaxy 2 Galaxy, James Pennington and the Detroit Techno Militia.
