My passion for art takes up most of my time, but I do enjoy being in the outdoors, reading a good book, seeing a great movie and spending time with my family.
Music
I enjoy soft rock, country and western, jazz, bluegrass and some classical. My favorites include Trick Pony, Little Big Town, Van Zant and Blackhawk.
Movies
I enjoy all kinds of movies. A few favorites I could watch again and again are What Dreams May Come, Pay it Forward and The Majestic.
Television
Northern Exposure, Gray's Anatomy and the HBO series Sex and the City have all been favorites.
Books
Illusions by Richard Bach tops my list. Some of the other more memorable books are the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings by Tolkein and The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.
Heroes
Of course an artist tops my list. Claude Monet and his impressionist movement is the winner here, but I also adore the work and courage of Mary Cassat. Others who inspire me are Ghandi, Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, and my daughter.
About me: I believe Art should incorporate emotion and touch the heart as well as please the eye. I think the best Art comes from the core of our existence, the cener of our souls. It is both inspired and inspiring. It can imitate life or break the boundaries of normal existence. It can help us see our surroundings in greater detail or bring us a whole new perspective. It can take us to new heights and expand our awareness or just help us remember what the world was like when we first began discovering it. And, unlike languages, Art is universal.
Whether I paint with watercolors or oils, I absolutely have to paint. Expressing myself through color and design is a part of who I am. Some of my work comes from stored images of the beauty that surrounds us and some of it develops from special requests of favorite places or things which are special to those who commission me. I am interested in a wide variety of possibilities, from the beauty of a western landscape to the radiance of a single rose, or the intricate pattern of a Native Amerian pottery design. Whatever I paint, my goal is to recapture that feeling of awe and wonder that we had as a child and reflect that glorious sense of disovery back to the viewer.
Who I'd like to meet: Stephen Spielberg comes to mind immediately because he has created such a volume of beauty, adventure, emotion and intrigue on the big screen and entertained so many people while realizing his own dreams.
Howard Terpning, G. Harvey and Pino D'Angelico are some of the working artists I would love to visit with.
I'm not much into politics, but since I wish everyone in the world could just get along I think it would be quite interesting to talk with Winston Churchill.
And last but not least I would love to meet Meryl Streep, I have long been a fan of her authenticity and dedication to her craft.
Recently a guy in Paris nearly got away with stealing several paintings from the Louvre. However, after planning the crime, breaking in, evading security, getting out and escaping with the goods, he was captured only two blocks away when his Econoline van ran out of gas. When asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an obvious error, he replied:
"I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh."
