| About Premonition |
PREMONITION Was originally started by two lifelong friends Kirk Andrews and Rodney Mullins in 1987. The band then consisted of Kirk Andrews on lead guitar,Rodney Mullins on drums,Trey Williams on bass, Johnny Nuckols on guitar and Chris Ortiz on Lead Vocals.
PREMONITION's first recording called"Premonition" in 1989, included on this recording were the songs "Incarnation of Death", "So Heavenly Bound(No Earthly Good)" "Self Mutilation" and "Destined Fate(Divination)". Great recording and Premo recieved positive reviews, but after playing everywhere they could, a line up change was made replacing Lead vocalist Chris Ortiz with Danny Mcquire.PREMONITION also departed ways with guitarist Johnny Nuckuls and became a four piece proggresive thrash powerhouse.
This new line up went on to record "Visions of Emptiness" in January 1992. This recording included the songs "The Secrecy Among Us" "Visions of Emptiness" "Execration" "Darkened Density" "False Conviction" and "Multiples of Identity". This recording garnered positive reviews local and abroad and the "Visions"tour cominced.
In 1993 PREMONITION recorded the classic "Brutal Healing",which again recieved praises from the Premo fans and media critics all around the world. Songs like "Brutal Healing" and "Of Spirit, Body and Mind" made you want to tear up the room and all who was in it. And the high energy of "Unlike You" and "Induced Psychosis" left you lying on the floor out of breath. Durring this time another line up change was made, Bassist Trey Williams left the band and was replaced by Don Vowell, formely from the band HYDRA and the "Brutal Tour" cominced.
This four piece tore up everywhere and everything they could for the next two years. Then went into the studio for the next recording"The Human Condition" that was recorded in early 1995 and included the songs "The Legion","Profane" and "The Human Condition". "The Human Conditioning Tour" began and Premo once again played and destroyed and left the Premo fans wanting more.
Drummer Rodney Mullins decided to leave the band in 1996 and was replaced by Phil Thomas, formely from the band JUGGERNAUT. Shortly after this, Premo decided to change thier name to "C.I.A." and after one final recording "CIA - Course in Anger" in 1996, this included the songs "A New Life","Rust", "Habbits" and a great cover of "Deuce" by Kiss. They only played a couple of shows under the name C.I.A. This recording was never officially released.
PREMONITION/C.I.A. disbanded in 1997 for good. PREMONITION will be missed and many good times were had. Still active in the music biz, Don Vowell now plays in the Dallas based band "WAJA" and is a Progresive Alternative Force to be seen and heard. Check 'em out at http://www.myspace.com/waja or his other project "DISCARD THE WEAK" at http://www.myspace.com/discardtheweak. While Kirk Andrews is currently running his own buissiness as a guitar lessons instructor in Florida and doing well. http://www.kirkandrews.com
