"To say that President Fetch is an institution in Danish
punkrock is a gross understatement! This year the Copenhagen boys celebrate
their 20th anniversary with their 3rd album, "Cruel Beats...Gently Slumbering",
their first in 14 years. And they've never sounded more vital and fresh than
now, slaying every competition on the stages around the country. And believe me,
I see close to 300 bands every year, but only a handful comes close to rival the
live phenomenon that is President Fetch!
A lotta youngsters who never saw the band were in for a surprise last year at
Gutter Island Festival, where President Fetch showed everyone who are bosses of
Danish punkrock. One could say the band is in their 3rd period, music-wise, with
wildman Molle as the frontman and crazed energizer bunny. And this period is the
one who takes no prisoners, like good wine the boys have aged gracefully and by
some ungodly influence they seem more fit than any 18 year old hardcore kids.
I don't know if they sold their souls to Beelzebub, but the 13 tracks on "Cruel
Beats...Gently Slumbering" perfectly captures their legendary live performance
energy, quite an accomplishment. And to these ears the album combines 3 of my
favorite albums of all time; "Feel The Darkness" (Poison Idea), "Let There Be
Rock" (AC/DC) and Turbonegro's "Ass Cobra". Hardcore/punkrock, rock'n'roll and
hardrock all united in a sonic mushroom cloud packed with hearts, guts, balls,
and a swagger that only comes from perfecting your craft through decades of
hard-earned r'n'r cred! Guest musicians include some well respected peers of
Baby Woodrose and On Trial. There you have it; the Danish rock album of 2007 -
"Cruel Beats...Gently Slumbering"!"
”At påstå at President Fetch er en institution indenfor dansk punkrock, er en
grov underdrivelse! I år fejrer de københavnske drenge deres 20 års jubilæum med
deres tredje album, ”Cruel Beats...Gently Slumbering”; første album i 14 år. Og
aldrig har de lydt mere vitale og friske end nu; de udrydder enhver konkurrent
på de danske scener. Og tro mig, jeg ser næsten 300 bands hvert år, men kun
ganske få kommer bare en anelse tæt på live-fænomenet der er President Fetch!
En masse unge folk der aldrig havde set bandet live fik sig en overraskelse på
sidste års Gutter Island Festival, da President Fetch beviste over for alle hvem
der er bossen indenfor dansk punkrock. Man kunne fristes til at sige at dette
band er i deres tredje musikalske periode, med vildmanden Molle i front som en
gakket Duracell-kanin. Og denne periode går ikke på kompromis; som god rødvin er
disse drenge blevet ældre og bedre, og måske er det gennem en u-guddommelig
indgriben at de virker i bedre form end en hvilken som helst 18-årig hardcore
kid.
Jeg ved ikke om de har solgt deres sjæle til Beelzebub, men de 13 numre på
”Cruel Beats...Gently Slumbering”, fanger deres legendariske live-energi helt
perfekt – hvilket er en sjældenhed på et studie album. Og i mine ører kombinerer
albummet 3 af mine personlige favoritter nogensinde: ”Feel The Darkness” (Poison
Idea), ”Let There Be Rock” (AC/DC) og Turbonegros ”Ass Cobra”.
Hardcore/punkrock, rock’n’roll og hardrock forenet i en sonisk paddehattesky
fyldt med hjerte, sjæl, nosser og en overlegenhed der kun kan komme af at have
fuldent sit håndværk gennem årtier med hårdttjent r’n’r’ kredibilitet! Blandt
gæstemusikere finder man rock-titaner fra Baby Woodrose og On Trial.
