Brian Karp (chef/owner) and Chris Evans (director/owner) are two neighborhood guys who always had a passion for comfort food. After several years of toiling in the corporate world -- and several late-night brainstorming sessions over too much coffee and beer - they decided to return to their restaurant roots. Press 195 was born.
June 2002 saw the opening of the now famous Park Slope Press 195. It was here where the art of pressed sandwich was honed. Named "Sandwich Kings of Brooklyn" by The Food Network, rated #2 sandwich in NYC by CitySearch in 2005, featured in many national publications including Travel & Leisure, The New York Times Sunday Fashion magazine, Fortune magazine etc, Zagat rated very good to excellent (21 rating) it goes on and on...the foundation for success was born.
Three years later came the second incarnation in Bayside Queens and Press 195 brings on Jimmy Volz as a new partner.
It's 2007 and the trio of Brian, Chris and Jimmy continue to wow people with good food and drink. From killer Belgian fries and awesome salads to our famous knish and pressed sandwiches, it's no wonder all the critics and internet bloggers continue to rave about us.
