Press, Release, Repeat's Interests
|
| General | Mocking everything we can find, ourselves notwithstanding. Bringing laughter to the hearts of children everywhere but not allowing it to jam there, causing myocardial infarctions; serving as the twin Irish Setters of justice, pointing our cool, wet noses in the direction of undetected idiocy. | | Music | Is good. Unless it's modern country. | | Movies | Are good. We can't list all of our favourites, but there have to be shouts to The Princess Bride. Seriously. Make a better movie than that. We dare you. And cast us. | | Television | Shared loves include Family Guy, Greg the Bunny, The Simpsons, Mr. Show and whatever we're working on at any given moment. We also swear our undying love and support for any and all programs created by, or aired on, The Comedy Network. | | Books | A little Chomsky never hurt. Anything written by Anne Coulter or anyone in any way associated with the extreme right is hilarious, but irritates us since it renders itself unmockable. You can't exaggerate stupidity when it's presented in the nth degree directly to consumers. | | Heroes | Ms.Tessie Burton and Ms. Stephanie Hart. Plus, everyone who's ever made their dream real. Anyone who can laugh when they're entitled to cry. Everyone who's ever taken the stage before a room full of disinterested drunks.

We put in stage time and enthusiam, and stir. Recipe for greatness. Or madness. Or, like a protein-shake heavy on both.

About me:
As Press, Release, Repeat, Derek Forgie and Adam Wilson have appeared in several fine venues and countless coarse ones. Between split-bill shows with the Boiled Wieners and their own sold-out performances at the Alchemy Theatre, the two have drawn a great deal of laughter and very little sympathy from many a crowd. Their unique brand of humour, which cross-examines contemporary social mores and popular mythos while finding significant time for the ridiculous, is why those who love them love them. As for those who hate them, file under ..evildoers... Keep an eye on these bad boys, for they are already working on some crazy new whatnot. Allow it to catch you unprepared and it will surely freak you out.
Press, Release, Repeat consists of two men, a large grouping of words, and some actions. Here are some words about the men.
Derek Forgie is the creator, star and producer of Planet Skwirl, a cable show which enjoyed six years of popularity in northern Ontario. He has also penned Putting on Shorts, a book of comedic short-form plays, which was abridged and performed in the 2005 Toronto Fringe Festival to the amusement of many, and the angering of few. He has been involved with Goodie Bag TV for the better half of this century, and can be seen in everyone's favourite shorts on the internationally renowned comedy site. An experienced improviser and director/coordinator of sketch troupe The Shaved Apes, Derek is as comfortable ..workshopping.. and directing his material as he is performing it.
Adam Wilson has appeared in: the television series Exhibit A and Are You Afraid of the Dark; the cable films The Naked City: Justice With a Bullet and Code Name Phoenix; and the short film Coffee Shop, seen at the Montreal International Film Festival. He has co-written several films, including Contract, Proxima, and If Wishes Were Horses (currently in editing limbo) and received glowing reviews for the short play Tabula Rasa, co-written with Jack Grinhaus and Lauren Brotman and performed at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. An experienced improviser and writer/co-director of the Sketch duo Bacterial Culture, Adam is as uncomfortable ..workshopping.. and directing his material as he is performing near it.
