We had a blast at Comic-Con this year as we brought all the excitement of the convention including live daily broadcasts, events and special access to our users at www.myspace.com/comic-con. Our coverage of Comic-Con included up to the minute blogs, exclusive video content, celebrity interviews and photos.
We were fortunate to partner up with MTV, an equally entertainment-obsessed media giant, for one of our biggest and most successful Comic-Con appearances to date. We also sponsored an exciting event for the highly anticipated film TRON: Legacy. And to satisfy the true horror fans of Comic-Con, we hosted an advanced screening of the upcoming film The Last Exorcism followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Here’s a look back at the highlights:

Karaoke is something we’ve all probably done at some point in our life, maybe unwillingly but we’ve all done it! While we can’t say our performances are all “Idol”-worthy, we can all agree that it’s extremely entertaining to watch. MySpace Karaoke is excited to announce its television debut as the official casting partner of Twentieth Television’s musical game show DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS!, which premiers in syndication this fall.
Contestant hopefuls will be able to audition for the show on the official DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS! community page www.myspace.com/dontforgetthelyrics which will feature MySpace Karaoke performances, games and contests once the show airs. Additionally, MySpace Karaoke will provide the music selections for the game show. Some of the insanely catchy song selections include:
Linkin Park is arguably one of the biggest rock acts in the world with more than 7 million fans on MySpace and iLike, 2 Grammy wins and a boatload of accolades from the music community. So needless to say we…
Los Angeles, CA (July 8, 2010) – Through their official website (www.linkinpark.com), LINKIN PARK has announced a September 14th release date for their new album A THOUSAND SUNS (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros.). The album is co-produced by Rick Rubin (U2, Johnny Cash) and Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda, who last joined forces to produce Linkin Park’s 2007 release, Minutes To Midnight.
The band also announced that the first single from the new album will be “The Catalyst,” which debuts on radio worldwide on August 2 and will also be featured on the band’s MySpace Music profile (http://www.myspace.com/linkinpark). Prior to the song’s release, the band and MySpace are teaming up for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” a unique promotion that gives fans a first-of-its-kind opportunity to collaborate with Linkin Park to produce their own song based on some of the tracks from the forthcoming single.
A winner will be chosen by Linkin Park and their submission will either be included on the band’s new album or the winner will be invited to perform with the band on a song on the upcoming record.
Beginning tomorrow, July 9th, fans can go to myspace.com/linkinpark to download audio stems from “The Catalyst.” Fans will be encouraged to adjust the stems and also record and produce their own additional tracks. Fans can use their own music production software to create their song and then upload it to the band via their MySpace page. Once each new version is submitted, the track will be shared in an embeddable player, which anyone can access to rate and comment, as well as click through to record their own tracks. The contest is live as of tomorrow.
Today, we’re rolling out a suite of new music products for all MySpace territories outside the US, UK , Australia and New Zealand that allow artists and fans worldwide to discover, create and share their songs and playlists on the site. Marking the first time that more than 33 countries will be able to interact with music on MySpace for a more enjoyable experience, this new functionality takes the traditional profile music player to the next level. For example, we’ve made it possible to play up to 100 songs as opposed to a single track, and create an unlimited number of playlists to share with friends.
The new playlist products also allows fans to enjoy and access global promotional content from major artists such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Linkin Park and more, plus spread the word on local and unsigned performers. So, how is this different from our other playlist features?
