    With hip hop being “dead” and trying to rejuvenate itself nowadays, it needs something fresh, innovative and reminiscent of something great. Something you can feel. Something you can be proud of. Something real. Just as if they were on hip hop’s revival itinerary, Contak has arrived right on time. For the last 8 years, Pretti and Yay – who make up Contak – have been writing, performing and gearing up to take the Atlanta hip hop scene and world by storm. Linking up from middle school to recording their first EP, the two have made it this far. From Djangos, the second annual A-Town Day and numerous other clubs, events and shows, Contak has made a name for themselves and deservingly become regulars on the music scene in the A. With their latest EP rightfully titled, Pretti Dope, the guys have taken their craft and hip hop to the next level. Whether it’s recording on a daily basis, performing at shows or restlessly writing songs for their album, Contak stands out as Southern hip hop connoisseurs with great potential to be the next superstars of music. On where they got their name from Pretti explains, “We’re definitely trying to contact people in the way they aren’t when they’re just in the club. You know, the other side of them. We’re just trying to give them something that they can play in the club, in the car and even at home.” It’s hard not to like them. “We’ve always been two well-grounded and rooted people…so we want to make sure we remain true to who we are. We’re from the hood and you can tell I’m from the hood by the way I carry myself but we can be on either side of the track. As long as we don’t get that big head, we’re good,” Pretti declares. Their creativity is refreshing and their sound is reminiscent of a young Outkast. Not only are they giving you that bounce music from the South that you love, but lyrically they get your undivided attention leaving you - the listener - anticipating the next 16 and wanting more. Just like any great, Contak does music for the love of it instead of just the recognition.
