About me:
Born precisely on the cusp of Virgo and Libra in 1988 to a lawyer and an artist, Tiernan Stinson is the genetic and spiritual embodiment of the clash of order and chaos, the sparkle and the fade of the universe. His flippant personality should therefore come as no surprise to anyone.
He spent the first year of his tiny little life in a cot in a closet in a cottage built by a legendary figure in his home town of Bowral. However, he was soon to move out of Martin Cottage (or Rats’ Cottage, as it was known amongst his family) and next door to his proper childhood home. Coincidentally this means he came out of the closet at the record age of one. It was at 31 Cliff Street that he spent his childhood in relative normality along with his brother. Well I say along with, it was more under the shadow of his brother, a tradition that continues to this day.
Never short of friends in primary school, Tiernan was not the usual popular type. So bad at sports he even sucked at marbles. A naturally smart child, if he had enough organisation to counteract the dishevelment in his tiny frame, he could have gone anywhere with his intellect. As it was he found outlet in the piano and the alto saxophone, instruments that, although he was naturally adept at, he was frustrated and disillusioned by the rigid regime of lessons and practice. By the time he discovered guitars he was a tightly wound ball of adolescent insecurity and far too self conscious to seek tuition before it was leaving it a bit late. However, he always had his voice.
Finding himself listing through life after highschool on the gentle zephyrs of his own ineffectiveness, it looked like Tiernan might drift into the neverending void of wasted potential. Fortunately, that very afternoon, he came across an ad for a little organisation in Surrey Hills called AIM. Tiernan promptly applied to and auditioned for the Australian Institute of Music and, for whatever reason, the silly buggers let him in. Singing was to be a constant in Tiernan’s life from the first time he sang along to playschool, to when he used singing as a rhythm keeping technique on his bicycle, to his first choir, to his very first lesson, to his first school musical, with various bands in between, formed for no other reason than play amongst friends. Using it to obtain a degree and hopefully a living just seemed like the natural progression.
Today Tiernan lives in the desperately unbohemian suburb of Surry Hills with three beautiful girls. He continues to be an unbearable, attention seeking narcissist. Why not drop him a line?
