PRETTY UGLY PRESENTS SPECIAL GUEST DJ PAUL DANANANANAYKROYD
Pretty Ugly opens its doors at The Hold, The Admiral Bar for some early festive fun on 12th December. Resident DJs, The Underskirts, hit the decks alongside special guest DJ Paul Dananananaykroyd, a line up giving you no excuse not to brave the Scottish weather for a cracking night out at only £4.
Guest DJ Paul Dananananaykroyd, who day jobs as one of two drummers for the much loved Glasgow ‘fight-pop” indie band, joins The Underskirts at the decks to help serve up plenty to dance to. They’ll be spinning out classic & new wave indie, hip shaking rock ‘n’ roll, with a sprinkling of eccentric and alternative festive tracks.
This Pretty Ugly will be the last of 2009 - but don’t despair! - Glasgow’s favourite indie night will return every second Saturday of the month in 2010 at The Hold, The Admiral Bar. The Underskirts have plenty in-store for the new year, from guest DJs to live band performances.
Saturday 12th December
12 Midnight until 4am, The Hold @ The Admiral Bar, 72a Waterloo Street, Glasgow
£4, + ever changing drinks promos
Namechecked by Elle Magazine and named as NME’s Club Of The Month, the dance floor has already been graced by the likes of Dogs, The Dykeenies, members of Snow Patrol, We Are Scientists, Stuart Murdoch (Belle & Sebastian) and Dominik Diamond.
Tonight! Queers and straights, get yer silver spandex on and get on down to the Flying Duck, Glasgow. Live music from Nanobots, Sellotape and The Paraffins, plus all manner of retro-futuristic pop and electro from Swallows and Amazons DJs.
Hey How are you doing? Just thought you may want to know we are playing at Pivo Pivo on St Andrews day. Its a Tartan themed party where everyone will look like a cross between a short bread tin and a tartan army foot soldier. Best of all its Free. If you can or can't make it let us know we enjoy the banter.
Slabs of the Tabernacle NYE Party @ La Cheetah Club (formerly The Twisted Wheel) 31/12/09
Mark du Mosch (Moustache Records - Rotterdam) Electrick Dragon LIVE (Rotterdam) Casionova (Cyber Dance Records, Magic Waves, IFM) Slabs of the Tabernacle DJs
Headlining the New Year party we welcome back Mark du Mosch. This will be his third time at Slabs so it's fair to say that we have much respect for the Rotterdam artist. An obsessive collector, Mark's DJ sets manage to be intriguing and hard rocking in equal measures, and we really couldn't think of anyone better to headline the New Year extravaganza.
Joining Mark will be fellow Rotterdamer Ricky the Dragon, performing a rare live set as Electrick Dragon. Having put out records dating right back to the early 90s (under many many aliases), Ricky carries with him some proper techno credentials. With his most recent output on Moustache Records he has produced two epic synth party bombs that are now firm favourites of ours. We first caught the Dragon live show at the Magic Waves festival earlier this year and it blew us all away, and so are delighted to welcome Ricky to Glasgow for his first Scottish performance.
And finally, making the trip up from Brighton will be the Italo battle axe Casionova. Over the past two years Casionova has become a permanent fixture at Slabs of the Tabernacle. His DJ sets are straight from the heart affairs and again we couldn't think of a better guest to see off 2009.
