..Our Purpose And Mission In 1999, Pride At Work became an official constituency group of the AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor & Congress of Industrial Organizations). The purpose of Pride At Work is to mobilize mutual support between the organized Labor Movement and the LGBT Community around organizing for social and economic justice. We see full equality for LGBT Workers in their workplaces and unions. We work towards creating a Labor Movement that cherishes diversity, encourages openness, and ensures safety & dignity. We aim to educate the LBGT Community about the benefits of union membership for LGBT working people, and to build support and solidarity for the union movement in the LGBT community. We intend to do this in the spirit of the union movement's historic motto, "An Injury to One is An Injury to All." We oppose all forms of discrimination on the job and in our unions based on sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, national or ethnic origin, age, disability, religion or political views.Books

Who I'd like to meet:
Do your part to keep Pride at Work working! Pride at Work is the only national LGBT-Labor organization. We are THE source for workshops, trainings, resources and materials geared to LGBT folks and unions. We are THE liason between the union community and the LGBT community. Working on issues important to you, we aim to make all union contracts LGBT inclusive, and to incorporate LGBT concerns in union values. Also, we educate the LGBT community that their best workplace protection is a union contract. You have a million ways to support us. Isn't that great? You can join our growning network of activists, you can simply spread our message, start a chapter or even send in your two cents. So, go ahead! ..Details

Thanks for adding me. ¶ Our problems are diverse, but to make progress on any of them we must also address their common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, murderers (including those in public office) all believe people are motivated only by greed and fear. And they'd like us to share that belief, because they use it to justify themselves and to manipulate us. But you and I have found LOVE inside ourselves and our friends; it's in everyone if we can just wake them up. Spread the word. ¶ Our aggression against Iraq began 5 years ago. Like most wars, it's based on lies. The continuing occupation makes new enemies faster than it can kill them, a strategy helpful only to arms dealers. Let's end the military-industrial complex. ¶ Don't scapegoat the immigrants — they're flooding into our economy only because we wrecked theirs. So-called "free" trade and market are asymmetric, giving investors the freedom to enslave workers. And the market's "efficiency" is a lie — it externalizes costs, perpetuating the inefficiencies of war, poverty, and disease. The corporatocracy is cruel and stupid; let's end it before it kills the ecosystem. ¶ We need government control over business, not the other way around; government should be by and for the PEOPLE. Transparency in government, public financing of election campaigns, trustbusting the news media, and ending corporate personhood would be a good start. Politicians should fear for their jobs; citizens shouldn't fear their government. And most of all, more people must get involved. ¶ Question authority. Carry on the struggle. Hold onto hope. Keep singing. — Eric

Kids are killing their friends and themselves in our wonderful western democracies - how the hell did this come to pass
Cold Dead Hands
He had murder in mind
When he walked through the door
Guitar case full of toys
From a convenience store
If tomorrow's so bright
Why is his head full of pain
It's the American dream
It's going to shoot your children down
Again and again
He's a high school killer
America's furture
He's a high school killer
From a child to a butcher
You've got to take it
From his cold dead hands
Well he was Rambo Stallone
And Charlton Heston in black
Terminator Schwarzenegger
But he won't be coming back
He will not be back
From Columbine
Down to North Illinios
Your country's murdering
Your Pride and Joy
The disllusionment and alienation
The fear and pain in your fuck up nation
