InterPride is an international organization that brings together Pride event planners from around the globe. The organization was founded under the name National Association of Lesbian and Gay Pride Coordinators in Boston, Massachusetts, where in the fall of 1982 representatives from about half a dozen US Pride Organizations gathered together to network. Since then, an annual conference has been held, in a different city, and attendance has steadily grown. As the events have become more international in scope, the organization changed its name to the International Association of Lesbian and Gay Pride Coordinators (InterPride).
InterPride is divided into 20 regions worldwide. Region 5, also known as Prides of the Southeast (POSE), includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia,West Virginia.
We encourage you to support POSE by attending annual Pride events. The organizers of these events work tirelessly to provide a safe space for GLBT people to gather, learn about community resources, celebrate diversity, and just be OUT.
