Marcello "Marcelito" Smenghi is a professional guitarist as well as singer/songwriter and Spiritual Live Counselor.His interests started as a child but he began to play professionally in 1974 and in 1977 was recognized by RockBand for the Padova (Italy) town authorities, local merchants and University of Padova. The following year he received the first place prize from the same organization for his work as a singer/songwriter. Between 1985 and 1990 he participated in several competitions, including the Festival at Loreo (for Castrocaro Terme-Forlì/Cesena) where he made the semifinals, but unexplainably didn't reach the final. In many other competitions he was awarded first prize. Other credits include national and international Radio and TV recognition as well as being selected by the Veneto Region and the CAVES Organization in 1989 to be sent as a representative for Veneto Emigrants living in Switzerland to sing at the opening of the Zurig Zentrum with other guests such as the Oberenstringen Choir. As a singer, he was a student of Flora Veretti(PD). Occasionally he has performed as a Special Guest with Gazebo(RM) in Rovigo (1986), Italo Janne(VE),Mario Tessuto (MI) and Paolo Bonolis(RM) in Opera (MI)(1987), Massimo Boldi (Drummer),Cristian de Sica,Alba Parietti,M.Oppini,M.Placido,Carmen Russo,Lino Banfi and others upon the invitation of the then promoter Barbara Zorzi (Publinvest (PD))for the televised special of "Skiers-Actors" at Cavalese(BL)(1989) broadcast on RAI 1. He did not manage to participate in the Padovan Festival Bar in 1989, hosted by Vittorio Salvetti and Susanna Messaggio due to a promotional conflict of interest between record labels. He also did not pass his second attempt at selection for Castrocaro at the RAI auditions in Rome, although he was encouraged to apply by their pianist who at the time was collaborating with the premier of S.Remo "Gianni Ravera". Since 1997 he has been collaborating in noteworthy Tours such as the Concerts in Venice for the Querini Stampalia Foundation, Doge's Palace, organized by the prestigious Baroque Music Academy in Venice and coordinated by M° M.Rosasalva, with the concertista professor of chamber music and orchestral violinist, Svetlana Popovic who teaches at the Belgrade State Institute(Serbia), presenting a relevant and virtuoso repertoire of Baroque, Classical and Modern music. As a composer he has studied under Ettore Ballotta(BO) and Ruggero Bon(PD) and received a Diploma of Merit awarded only to the top 10 ranked out the 70 who participated in the International Competition for the Guitar Composer "P.Barsacchi" at Viareggio(1990). One of his favourite guitarists is J.McLaughlin and this influenced his playing through 1979. He received a Diploma in Classical Guitar in Padova with Paolo Muggia at Institute "C.Pollini" and furthered his studies with Francesco Rizzoli (VE), Baroque and other subject. Several magazines of the Veneto (such as Omnibus) in an article (1993) Gennaro Marotta, journalist and politician, cited him as a "brilliant guitarist" worth while listening to live. He then studied Jazz guitar full immersion under Augusto Mancinelli. He also studied with Tomaso Lama,Franco D'Andrea, Mick Goodrick, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Scott Henderson, Joe Diorio and others. In 1990 he played in the Veneto in a duo with Andrea Molena, presenting Jazz and Blues music by Miles Davis, G.Gershwin,J.McLaughlin, Al Di Meola,and others. Since 1976 he also privately plays Raga-Tala Indian music and "orientalized" first with Paolo Avanzo sitarist (PD), introduced to him by percussionist Paolo Perego in 1976 and later with several Indian musicians but he has also studied and done private performance with Camillo Bonello(PD) sitarist and Fabio Lazzarin(VE) tablist in Studio in Mix.

His last trip to India was in 1995. He plays with the Prigionierah Band.

Heylà ciao Big, estate ok, progetti tanti e qualcuno realizzabile, con i Blue's Ahead stiamo preparando un CD di brani nostri con il Jazz Project Trio anke, poi per il resto ci si adatta a proporre i Tributi, adesso va così. Prima o poi bisogna fare qualcosa insieme, ci tengo. Avanti tutta dunque Marcelito ke el sol magna le ore, speriamo sempre in un futuro migliore ma mi sa ke "no xe mai tempo" da anni.
