I am very happily married (warrior hubby Larry) and we are owned by a whole clan of furry (& scaley) children. I am mellow, eccentric and blunt. I take time getting to know new people. I am into laughter, critters and growing green things. I don't like crowds, meanness or stupidity. I'm not a partier, but I enjoy entertaining. I spend what little "free" time I find decorating our home that we spent two years remodeling.

Did you know that the pollinating bee population is rapidly disappearing? No bees, no plants, no animals -- including humans! I know, you're thinking scientists will find another way to pollinate... sadly they have already tried and failed! Did you know bees will not go near a cell phone? Is it the phones? Pesticides? Or something else killing the colonies? We need to find out before it is too late...

Did you know 500 BILLION to 1 TRILLION plastic bags a year end up in landfills and it takes an estimated 1000 years for them to break down? Did you know they end up in the ocean where turtles mistake them for favorite food jellyfish and die eating them? Did you know they are made from petroleum products and it would save 450,000 gallons of oil a year if we would stop making them?
STOP USING PLASTIC BAGS!!!
I would love to believe in something beyond this world as we know it, but being of sound and scientific mind I simply cannot make the leap of "faith" required. I have considered myself a somewhat agnostic, ecclectic, evolutionary pagan for some time now... but in all honesty I am actually athiestic, think nature is divine, mythology is fantastic fiction, and obsess over the world's cultural art and artifacts.

My hubby and I volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary before it moved out of state... and I took my zoo keeper's certificate from the LAZoo/LACC. Pics with wildlife are from these adventures and other sanctuary visits.

NO you do NOT want a tiger or wolf (or any other exotic animal) as a PET! Exotic animals cannot be "pets." Wild by nature, they have very special needs (diet, housing, and vet just to name a few). Most people are simply not able to have them as companions. There are issues far too numerous to list (including legalities).
I suggest to anyone thinking of getting any kind of exotic animal (even a small one) to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary for an extended time period (that is what my husband and I did)... you will legally experience the challenge of being a guardian and friend of exotic animals they are always need of assistance! ;-)
