Easter Sunday in El Sereno
The Echospace Collective coalesces
On cantilevered community calles
along the divided sides
of Huntington Drive
Cool, fervent primavera peace
Descends in El Sereno
Tranquil in the arms
And echoes of Eastside Café
Palabra del primo soldado
Canoso con su cuaderno
Bajo su brazo y la pluma
The lines in his face,
Forged in New York
And Chicago, are laughter
And pride as well as
suffering and sorrow
Etched in a blue smoke mirror
Of agile ink sketches
Underneath his wizard pen
Madrina and sister-tia
Brings word from our other
Big homie-brother, the gracious
Giver and hold-out warrior
Who smiles with Quetzal joy
And makes flower songs
On paper and through his child
The wordslingers gather,
Among them la maestra
Who conjures cookies and poems
A studio painter who lived
Though so many others died
For the war-monster machinery
Bringing barbershop revolutions
and a Chicano moratorium
Like daybreak absolutions
When our very own Salazar
Was consecrated and slain
Our bereft camarada Chileno
Exiliado en el este de Los Angeles
From the post-Allende purge
Telling stories while healing
The rift between brothers
Soldiers for love and peace
Across three continents
As the waft of tobacco
wanes gently over
The face of pain and triumph
Emerging from under his skin
And I leave Echospace renewed
Replenished, reborn, restored
I want to be the posterboy
The troubador, a bona fide vocero
de una guerra contra la opresion
Free our voices and lift our souls
With and by and for and through
a collective of mild-mannered
superhero poets who live humbly
because words of grace and beauty
are, more than ever
necessary and true
I say again a heartfelt gracias
Y aviento un suspiro contento
Over the leaves and trees
I want to inhabit the Echospace
Let it fill my veins and fingertips
With sonnets and smiles
Like a veil made from stars
Over our lady Nuestra
Señora Reina de Los Angeles
Tonantzin in our native tongue
Earthbound on a mission
To bridge the elders and young
Teaching us to share
The tenderness we seek
Ofrendas de ternura
We have only begun to speak

Who I'd like to meet: Poets, writers, thinkers, creative artists and cultural workers... volunteers, community stakeholders, neighbors and all of those with a vision and dream who are willing to work for change one step at a time, knowing that change must first begin within. It's about peace and harmony, but it is also about respect and love for each other and for the earth as a living, breathing companion, a guide and caretaker that must, in turn, be protected and cared for. It's about the family and trust in our own innate talents, skills and knowledge which never ceases to grow... about change and the mystic forces that can take us further than we've ever been. It's about love and language and the flight, about freedom and creation when the muses are unleashed and we cry for our anscestors who suffered untold oppression, obliteration and annihilation, we release them and let go of genetic sadness. Sobre todo el el poema del loco enamorado, el que vive clavado dentro de mi pecho y la memoria de unos momentos mágicos.

What do you think of these newly discovered crime scene photos (viewed at Abu-Jamal-News.com)?
I have been personally contacting every media outlet I could find and still the mainstream media has completely ignored the story. Many independent media outlets have covered it, but the only independent outlet that has actually published one of the photos is the national Black newspaper, The SF Bay View (click here).
This is just the latest episode in a long history of corporate media bias (and arguably racism) towards Mumia and other political prisoners.
