Prime Mover is a Finnish band that plays an original kind of progressive rock music. The music can be described shortly as containing quite a lot of odd time signatures, sound experiments and sudden changes in style, but at the same time being clearly structured with accessible melodies and traditional elements.
The band was formed in 1998. The first demo, "Mr Zingelmann" (1999), was basically a 40 minute concept album. The first real album was however "Put In Perspective" (2001), which was also the first release with the whole line-up. For the second album, "Prime Mover Alias Drivkraft" (2004), the band wrote all the lyrics in their native tongue: a minority version of Swedish spoken only in Finland.
