GeneralWell, apart from investing much time and energy in the Regiment, I like to work on and ride my 1976 Honda 750 motorbike when I get a chance. I also have a small collection of vintage industrial engines, most of which I am slowly restoring. Give me my lathe and some spanners and I'm quite content. I've always had an interest in history, particularly of the English Civil Wars. I've also been known to spend long hours down caves and potholes in the Yorkshire Dales.
MusicAll sorts, just about anything except for rap and boy/girl band cack, but I keep coming back to 70s/80s rock, jazz rock and folk rock. So pretty much rock based, then. All time favourites include Jackson Browne, early Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention, The Pirates and Doctor Feelgood (yer actual R&B, not this modern sh*te), 999, Jethro Tull, Al Stewart, Family.
MoviesFavourite directors strangely all begin with L - Mike Leigh, Ken Loach & David Lynch. Favourite films of all time include Billy Liar, Room At The Top, Deliverance, Dark Star, Leon, Fargo.
TelevisionDon't watch much, since I find most of it insulting to the intelligence. I enjoyed Rome, though, and I thought that Life On Mars was pretty good. Recently bought a DVD of the original ITV series of Robin Hood, starring Richard Greene, made in the 50s/60s. Superb! I will never forget The Singing Ringing Tree either. Ask anybody over 45. No wonder some of us are troubled...
BooksFavourite authors include Kurt Vonnegut, Jack Vance, Peter Ackroyd, Iain Banks, Bernard Malamud & Stephen Donaldson.
HeroesAnybody who has ever stood up for the 'ordinary' man against the forces of royalty, dictators, rampant capitalism or repressive religions.

About me:

Just one of my many interests at the moment is playing the part of a soldier in Lieutenant-Colonel John Lilburne's Regiment, which is part of the re-enactment society called the Sealed Knot. We aim to re-create the history of the English Civil Wars (1642-1651).

Our Regiment is named in honour of John Lilburne, whose followers were known as the Levellers. Lilburne believed that power originated in 'freeborn' people with natural rights, not in the existing ruling classes. He wanted political power to be reclaimed by the people.

Lilburne was a brave man, who suffered much for his ideals.

His legacy lives on. See my regiment's website HERE

Who I'd like to meet:
Certain people from history might be interesting to meet, assuming that they could be resurrected, taught modern English and given a good wash.

Hey, dont suppose you could have a quick lok at the new version of the myspace group... katherine and i had a bit of trouble trying to alter the last one, so i made a new one, using the myspace account as the moderator, so anyone who knows the username and passcode can be incharge.
I did the page up a bit, but it takes a while, so i've just done a few things to it to start with. Any comments back :)

the site is: http://groups.myspace.com/lilburnesgroup

any opinions welcome

Hey, andy, seen the newsletter, and it looks really good, plenty of stuff in there... have to admit the 'giving away money' title did grab my attention... very cruel. Anyway, nice job and just wondered when you'd like the young persons newsletter/ lil bernie part doing.

I also suggest that older people of the regiment request a copy (if thats viable) as i know many of the older people inc. parents like to have a look through it too.

It may also be intresting to keep an archive of the newsletters.
