Influenced by Americana, Rock, Blues Country, Celtic and Reggae this group is hard to "pin down. Kent Lopez originally formed Primitive Mind back in 1990. First as a studio entity participating in "compilation" CDs which were marketed to College Radio and eventually as a live performance group. Although the line-up has changed over the years the music has stayed true to the original intent ... To Create and perform Original songs taking influences from American and other world music and create a unique sound. The band has gone over big mainly in "Eclectic" venues and Festivals where the concert goers seek out a variety of musical styles. Based in the state of Maryland, PM brings influences from their collective travels to Austin, Nashville, California and the west coast, Hawaii, Jamaica and the west Indies, the British Isles and Europe. The distinct musical styles from these opposite ends of the world are weaved into an Original brand of music that serves as the backbone of PM's music.
In addition to performing at various National Venues, Festivals, Colleges and Concert series, PM has opened for such National Acts as Blues Legend "BB King", Country/Bluegrass sensation "Allison Krauss & Union Station", also "Doc Watson", "Junior Brown", "Lunasa" and the alternative rock band "Phantom Planet". Nashville, TN's renowned Bluebird Cafe features PM in their "Songwriter Spotlight"

~DAVID MINER - Reso Guitars - Dave grew up listening to classic country artists. A common thread in all those country records was the steel guitar, and that sparked his interest. Although it would be another twenty years before he got his first steel guitar, his love for that sound never diminished. After a 12-year layoff, he dusted off his dobro and started playing music on the instrument that soothes his soul. Although back on the local music scene for only a couple of years, he is quickly gaining recognition as a top notch and tasteful resophonic and electric steel guitarist. Aside from his work with Primitive Mind, Dave has recorded a CD and performs with many area bluegrass and eclectic bands. Dave also recorded on Dave Evans' latest CD. He presently tours with Gary Ferguson... Visit Dave at his MySpace site. www.myspace.com/slidedreams

Hey Kent... Been a while. We just picked up this show at IOTA on Sunday. Should be a good one with Little Pink opening. Come on out. We'd love to see ya. And as an added bonus... we'll give you Monday off! CHEERS!
Primitive Mind - Join us in congratulating record producer Kim Copeland for her work on the Rachel Williams album, Lonely At The Bottom. Check this great review by R.K. Oermann with Music Row Magazine on Rachel's current single, The Only Thing Harder Than Leaving.
"She has the goods. This creeps up on you with cat’s paws. The languid pace, echoing instruments, spacious production and her hushed, aching delivery are all immensely seductive. The lyric of leaving home is full of terrific details. And her falsetto leaps in the bridge are like little daggers to the heart. A mini masterpiece. This, by the way, is the third single in a row that I have raved about from this performer. "
All is well in Nashvegas man. I pray all is well in Maryland. Y'all have a groovy sound going on man. Keep it up. If y'all ever play in Nash give me a shout. peace and fried chicken
