Delroy McLean, a.k.a. Prince Ranny, original founder and director of the legendary jamaican band Rasta Uprising, count on one recognized trajectory extended for more than 27 years of arduous work and much responsibility. During its career, the outstanding and veteran artist have developed its extraordinary musical abilities as leader singer, composer trumpetist and producer. His music and message always have been tied and compromised to the philosophy of the Rastafari movement and the traditional sound of ‘Roots Reggae', a worldwide-beloved genre, which was first very popular in the decade of 70's, thanks to the proverbial artists like Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Culture, among others.
Prince Ranny was born in the country-side, in the District of Red Wood of St. Catherine, Jamaica, the 9th of July of 1962. Its inclination for the music arrives to him from very young age, when it belonged to the scholastic group of boys-scout, where he began playing the drums and the percussion, and shortly after singing in the small concerts organized in its school for several years.
In 1982, the young musician already settled down in Kingston, obtains from the prodigious hands of celebrate singer and veteran producer Lincoln .. Sugar' Minott, his great first opportunity to work seriously in the recording studio. In that occasion he received the valuable support of the well-known ‘Black Roots' Record Label, where he records and publishes his two first and colossal singles titleholders: ‘Consciousness' and ‘Licky licky Sharon' respectively.
Since then, its respectable artistic work in the scenes of the world-stages has not stopped a little while, clarifying itself mainly by his shining perfomances in its native Jamaica in the most important festivals of the island like: ‘Rebel Salute' (1999, 2000 and 2004), ‘A St. Mary Me Come From' (Capleton show), also in the return of the very famous ‘Reggae Sunsplash' (2006), ‘Reggae in the Hills', (in three opportunities), and of course, sharing stages with most of the celebrate all-time reggae artists like Sizzla, Junior Reid, Ninjaman, Shabba Ranks, Terrific, Sugar Minott, Barry Brown, Junior Byles, Yami Bolo, Tony Rebel, among others.
Internationally, he has made some amazin presentations in countries like Cayman Islands, Bahamas, England, France, USA, Colombia, Argentina. Within his most recent musical productions are the singles: ‘Mix Up World', published in 1998, in addition, the songs ‘How Long' and ‘Too Much Blood', published in 2000, by ‘Special Cut Music' record label, owned by his great friend and DJ Clement Campbell, a.k.a. Junior P. Both tunes were later reissued through his own record company Far-I Productions.
After that, the history continues with the launching of his premier album ‘Real Rastaman', that contains 14 successful original tracks, released in 2003 and published again by his record company Far-I Productions.
Recently, Prince Ranny introduced to the world the great album split-produced in combination with USA-based jamaican DJ Junior P. This work is titled ‘Black to Black' and it was released in May 2007, during his visit to the state of California, USA, which have been published and distributed at that time by the record label
'Special Cut Music'.
Actually, Prince Ranny supports strongly the releasing of his latest CD 'Different Level' (Rasta Uprising Productions). This new and crucial album brings again 'in full efect' the traditional reggae sound along with serious messages and clean melodies. The support for the promotion started already by touring different countries and began this venture choosing Colombia and Argentina (South America) as the first places to visit and performing in the main cities sharing stages with local bands during 2008 and 2009.
