Alpha Diallo, a Guinean human rights lawyer, has been involved in theater and musical performance since his arrival in the U.S. in 2000. He wrote The Wind Blew, which was performed at the University of Chicago Theater in 2001 as a part of the Antigone Project. As a musician, he explores his musical roots with his band The Princes of Futa. His main source of inspiration comes from the Wolof and Fula cultures of West Africa. Through African beat and jazz, the Princes of Futa try to reconcile modern and traditional African culture while also embracing the musical multiplicity of the U.S. To audiences as varied as those frequenting the Green Mill, Darkroom, Morseland, the Subterranean, and various festivals across Chicago, his songs speak of peace, love, and justice. Alpha Diallo believes that human diversity will lead to a better world, and the Princes of Futa reflect that diversity, which, after all, is what America is all about.
We are very excited about playing at such an awesome jazz club. We have some great sets lined up for you, so don't miss it. Friday and Saturday November 20th and 21st, 5:00-8:30p at Andy's Jazz Club in Chicago

After the massacre of September 28, all Guineans from all over the world stood up together and said no to Dadis and his clan CNDD, No to dictatorship, No to military rulers, No to the violence and YES to DEMOCRACY and freedom. When the world saw the crimes committed by Dadis and his clan and how determined we (Guineans) are to bring peace, prosperity, and true democracy; every one (UN, US, EU, AU, CEDEAO) EXCEPT Khadafi condemned the actions of CNDD against a defenseless population. A weapon embargo has been put in place against CNDD. Both EU (European Union) and U.S put another sanction in perspective which was to deny members of CNDD visas. After reading and watching the reaction of the world, we (Guineans) think it’s OVER for Dadis. However, lets not forget about the case of Mauritania in October 2008 exactly a year ago (read this article http://www.javno.com/en-world/eu-threatens-sanctions-on-mauritania-junta-chiefs_206294) very similar to all of the sanctions that we have been reading against members of CNDD. Bernard Kouchner was even sent to Mauritania to monitor the situation and everyone agreed to bring the junta leader of Mauritania to the International Penal Court. But, the junta leader of Mauritania stood during the elections and took over ever since. He is still the president of Mauritania.
I am mentioning about the Mauritanian case because it sounds too too close to ours. With that, I want to tell you not to stop. Yes, we have made progress and for once we have all come together as ONE against CNDD and the world sees that we had ENOUGH, but lets not stop here and think EU, US, AU will keep their sanctions. Unless we keep the pressure, they will think we are giving up. Lets keep the pressure on the international committee for Dadis and his clan to be tried and jailed for their crimes against humanity. Lets remember those who have fallen in 2007 and again 2009 ALL for the same purpose DEMOCRACY. Lets keep the fight going until we see the desired result. Our marches might not be filled with a lot of people, but lets remember that it’s not about you, me or everyone else, but rather for our country. Lets remember that no matter how long we remain in US or Europe, we will still remain immigrants. We might not see a huge difference now, but the future generation will for sure benefit from our fights. Leaving everything into the hands of international committee is not the result to our problems. Lets put our ethnical differences aside and all come together as Guineans to fight against dictatorship. If you have a twitter account, tweet about the currently situation, if you have myspace, facebook, hi5 blog about the change that we seek for our country. Send messages to your friends to keep the pressure up on international committee. Together we can END DICTATORSHIP, bring DEMOCRACY, and PROSPERITY. TOGETHER we can make a DIFFERENCE

Hello my friend, I have forgotten most of my french that is why I am Writing to you in english. I know our elections are supposedly coming soon (December), but I think that our current president will try to do like Lansana Conte which is to run the country until he dies. However, After seing what happened in Iran and how they are able to bring awareness to the rest of the world. I am certain that we (the Guineans) can make the world knowledgeable about the situation if the current president decids to remain in power. We must bring awareness to the rest of the world, we must stand up and say enough of dictatorship and we want democracy. the world is changing and we will not be left behind. We (the Guineans) must make a difference. One way we can make the world awrare of what's happening in Guinea is by tweetting. If you don't have an account with Twitter, I am asking you to please create one. If you already have an account with tweeter, please follow me at www.twitter.com/moncoeur2005. Together we can make a difference. Together, we can change our country, and get support. To get support from the rest of the world, we must show them that we are ready for change. The Iranians got the atttention of the world by tweeting. Therefore, I am asking you to please join me and ask you friends to join me. Our people are hurting and we should let the world know that. We need help, but until we say it, no one will kow. We have suffered from dictaors for over 50 years and we need change. The country is called "le chateau D'eau de la'afrique de l'ouest" but we don't have electricity or runnig water. We must stand up for our country and for the future generations.
I thank you for creating a myspace account and i encourage you to pleaase join me
