Princess PissyPants The Greedy Cheese Eating Bitch's Comedian Bio
Bio"Princess Pissy Pants The Greedy Cheese Eating Bitch and Other Naughty Dogs Tales" has been a hit with audiences and critics alike since it first performed as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2005, where it sold out night after night and The Age called it a "must see". It then went on to sell out as part of the 2005 Melbourne Fringe Festival; the Year of the Dog Tour sold out at the 2006 Adelaide Fringe Festival; every single night of it’s run with an extra show being added as part of the 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and a season at The Albury Convention and Performing Arts Centre. Later that year the show then went on a mini-tour of the South Island of New Zealand, making it’s international debut as part of the Alexandra Blossom Festival, then performing as part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival and finishing with a night in Christchurch. Major daily The Otago Daily Times noted the show’s popularity with local audiences, saying “Australian comedian Joanne Brookfield has been raising the roof of the Fringe Town tent with her funny show about her dead dog, Murphy” and their reviewer said “Princess Pissy Pants will appeal not only to people who know and love dogs, but also to people who don’t really ‘get’ dogs, thanks to Brookfield’s knack for anchoring her anecdotes with universal themes. Most of the anecdotes are about her beloved late dog which means there is pathos underlying much of the wit.” The buzz around the show in Dunedin – which attracted Members of Parliament, NZ TV icons and even real, live dogs to it – was such that the Festival invited Joanne to extend the season, although was unable to due to other touring commitments, as the show was returning to Australia to perform as part of the Armidale Women’s Comedy Festival in NSW. Then in 2007 Joanne was a recipient of an individual grant from Layne Beachley's Aim For The Stars Foundation, which is given to women who "dare to dream, pursue their passion and aspire to achieve" and now, in 2008, the show embarks on it's biggest tour yet - a national tour of Australia.

InfluencesAlong the way, the show has been raising both money for, and awareness of, the important work dog shelters and animal welfare organisations do in each town the show has performed in. So far the show has raised more than $6,000 for various organisations in Australia and New Zealand. Those organizations are: Lost Dogs’ Home – Victoria, Australia. Animal Welfare League – South Australia, Australia Albury Dog Rescue – New South Wales, Australia Otago SPCA – Alexandra and Dunedin, New Zealand. SAFE – Christchurch, New Zealand. The show will continue to raise money for local animal welfare organisations as it travels around Australia this September and October.
Members"Joanne Brookfield is a must-see" - The Age, Melbourne, 2005. "a howling success...has the audience in fits of laughter" - The Advertiser, Adelaide, 2006. "Even if you’ve never had a dog, you will love this show!! Joanne’s amazing storytelling skills had us laughing, commiserating, indignant and teary right along with her. Definitely one of the best I’ve seen this festival" - TalkFringe website, Adelaide, 2006. "Had the audiences tails wagging" - The Otago Daily Times, NZ, 2006. Joanne's first show, which was called 'A Dog's Breakfast' although had nothing to do about animals was: "highly recommended" - The Age, Melbourne, 2004. "the Carrie Bradshaw of this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Night after night, fans of the top-rating comedy drama make their way down to see Brookfield's one-woman show - a sweet, sardonic and brutally honest portrait of her search for a soul mate" - The Sunday Herald Sun, Melbourne, 2004. “hilariously expressed love angst…a damn good laugh” - Rip It Up, Adelaide, 2004. “Brookfield holds the distinction of being a stand up who’s easy to relate to”. - Fresh FM, Adelaide, 2004. “A Dog’s Breakfast is a finely written piece…While she may not be blessed in matters of love, Brookfield is certainly blessed with the gift of the gab. She is a born storyteller with an innate sense of comic timing and a delivery that alternates between razor sharp cynicism and endearing optimism.” - InPress, Melbourne, 2003. "Excellent debut, Joanne Brookfield is sure to move on to bigger and better things." - Buzzcuts website, Melbourne, 2003.

About me:
"Princess Pissy Pants The Greedy Cheese Eating Bitch and Other Naughty Dog Tales" is a stand up comedy show all about the important place our pets hold in our lives... Dogs lick the tears off our face and in return we carry their poo around in a bag - now that's friendship!! Australian stand up comedian Joanne Brookfield and her beloved German Shepherd-cross Murphy (pictured) spent twelve years together getting up to all sorts of mischief. Stealing food from housemates, scaring pizza delivery boys and hiding in the shower on Christmas Day ...sometimes Murph would even do the same. But this isn't a show about "have you ever noticed how dogs are different to cats?" It's about bigger things - life, death and how much Joanne despised carrying poo around in a bag. This "vigourously feel good show" (-The Age) celebrates the amazing bond we are able to form with an entirely different species and is touring nationally in September this year. (Please be advised the show is not suitable for children)
Who I'd like to meet:
Animal and comedy lovers from all around Australia! The show is touring nationally in September and all the ticketing and venue info will be up on this site soon. So become our friend for now and we'll keep you posted.. AUDIENCE MEMBERS: BRING A PHOTO OF YOUR DOG TO BE USED AS PART OF THE BACKDROP TO THE SHOW
