I recorded "Goodnight Belguim" as a christmas present for my sister. It features myself on vocals, guitar, violin and accordion, Jeff Dill on electric guitar and Jude Pelley on mandolin. "Across the Sea" is a recent addition, and features my clawhammer banjo, and Jennifer Louise Taylor on guitar and harmony vocals.
Since graduating from the UVic School of Music in 2006 I have embarked on a musical journey, to discover other styles and other ways of playing the violin, besides the classical music I have been immersed in since age 10. So far I have been very drawn to any kind of "fiddling", be it celtic, American old-time, bluegrass, and also jazz and blues, basically anything that gets me improvising and experimenting. My goal is to be a well rounded musician, to be able to understand many styles and ideas about playing, and to feel that I really know my instrument and what it can do. Besides the fiddle I am also trying to regain my piano and guitar skills, and trying a few new instruments such as the viola, banjo, accordion, and mandolin. I finally have the time to do this and it feels amazing to use the skills I have gained in completely new ways.
i had a dream the other night that i walked into a room and some band was playing your song and then you walked by with your fiddle and joined in. i love that song. thanks for your beautiful music. Paula
