About me:
By corresponding with a prison pen pal, you not only make someone's day, but you may also help reduce the rate of inmate recidivism. Your "snail mail" letters to these prisoners helps increase inmate moral and promote human rights and rehabilitation. This site will also allow you to e-mail your first message along with a return mailing address to the prison pen pal of your choice. The email is printed and sent directly to the inmate so they can correspond with you. Many of these men and women prisoners get no mail and they spend as many as 23 hours a day in their cells. Some inmates await execution on death row. Other inmates languish in solitary confinement. A prison pen pal may be the only relationship they have. Companionship for inmates who are incarcerated is almost impossible, especially for death-row inmates who are isolated from other prisoners. Your card or letter may seem a small, insignificant contribution, but to a prisoner who never hears his or her name at mail-call, they become a treasured keepsake, to be read and re-read again and again. Reaching out to a prisoner in kindness may be the most unselfish act you perform in a lifetime. Won't you please reach out to another human being and make a prison pen pal?
