Sounds Like
Acoustic Soul - Jazz - Folk. In the husky blue vein of Norah Jones and Tracy Chapman with plenty of sunshine and coastal breeze...and a loop pedal layering up live harmonies.
Fed a steady diet of lentils and Indian music as a child, Prita has acquired more than just an Indian name.. with various styles of music being played as the backdrop to her early years - by osmosis - Prita has absorbed Stevie Wonder, Julio Iglesias, Bob Marley and Indian Trance..as well as a healthy dose of Crowded House, Tracy Chapman and Lauren Hill.
Her newly acquired addition of loop pedal (loopy Fred) has taken her music from a solid folk-jazz-soul sound to a beatsy layering of vocal harmonies, hand percussion and guitar.
Recent shows include supports for Carus, Tin Pan Orange and Nathan Gaunt and with an EP under her belt and an album and Live EP on the way.. Prita is carving her path in the Music industry.
Overseas gigs include - a month residency in Thailand 5 star resort, gigs in New York, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale, St Barts, St Maartin, Harbour Island, Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
Plans for 2009 include 'Live Bootleg' EP launch and tour in Melbourne early Febraury, Athens and Scandinavia in May and Australian Festivals to coincide with the release of her full length album later this year.

Hi Prita, I hope that Copenhagen is treating you well and that the gigs and travel are very rewarding. Back here in Freo we have a CD launch on Fiday 12th June at the Davilak. We also have the awesomely talented Mike de Velta appearing, as well as the very danceable Dilip and the Davs. No cover charge and plenty of good music and good will. Respect to you Prita, have fun!
Hey Prita! Got your monthly email - yee ha. Seems you're pretty busy over in the western side. Good stuff. Get Melbourne back on the map. That would be good fun. :) Bea.
Yeha, overseas will be a blast. You've got TONES of gigs happening OS. Wowzer. Go you :) How did you get them - do you have managment, or did you seek them yourself? How do you go about doing that? ever done the overseas thing before? I've not toured overseas. Suppose it would be a massive and exciting project. i wish you all the best. :) I'm comin' back to Melbourne mid feb for some shows, then again in May, and probably June for an album launch. I wrote a song abou the Melb bushfires and am trying to get there out there. I haven't performed in WA. What's the msuic scene like over there. I'll get there eventually, but will do more of the east coast first. When do you leave for OS? How exciting. jb
