| About Private Drive |
After over 8 years of playing the major clubs in the Central PA music scene, PRIVATE DRIVE has decided to take a new direction for awhile. After founding member Ryan Bauman and long-time drummer Joe Nicholas decided to part with PD to pursue other passions, it became a constant struggle to "reform" that perfect group of guys who compliment each other not only in musicianship and stage presence, but on a personal and social level in our everyday lives as well. We've always had kind of a unique situation, and we've learned that these sort of things just can't be forced. We've greatly appreciated the efforts of everyone who has been involved with PD in the past, (most recently Steve Roe and Eric Mcneil) but as the remaining "core group" Randy, Jason, and Greg have decided that a new direction and a fresh perspective was GREATLY needed!
So, what better way to start over then to go back to our roots?! Many years ago, PRIVATE DRIVE started out as three guys getting together with acoustic guitars, jammin out some tunes, drinking some beers, and generally having fun creating music. It was a simpler, more stripped-down version of what our goal as a band has always been....play music that we enjoy and hopefully other people will enjoy too, and most of all have FUN! This does NOT mean that the hard-rockin' PRIVATE DRIVE you've all grown to love is gone forever. We may steer things back that way eventually, when the right situation and the right lineup of musicians presents us with that opportunity. But in the meantime, we're taking things slow, playing some really cool and unique versions of some of our favorite songs, and enjoying our renewed passion for making music! So, if you're a guitarist or drummer looking for a casual atmosphere with an established band, give us a shout. We're not in any hurry to get back to a full arsenal, but ya never know. We'd at least be happy to get in touch and keep you in mind when the time feels right.
So, in a nutshell, that's where we are right now. We're going back to where it all started, and so far having an absolute blast doing it! Our new direction has allowed us to open up a whole new songbook of tunes that we wouldn't have dared try to pull off "plugged-in" in a nightclub setting. And with all these new possibilities has come a new passion for creating and playing music....something all three of us needed desperately. We've been working hard to nail down a LOT of new acoustic songs for all of you that we think you'll really dig. We certainly do! And we also have a few ideas for some original songs in the works as well. We truly hope that our friends and loyal fans will stick by us through this transition and come to appreciate our new sound. We're looking forward to playing some of our new material for you all in a watering hole near you real soon! Hit us up if you have ideas for tunes you might like to hear "unplugged", as we're always up for a challenge. And in the meantime, keep checking back for updates on how things are shaping up with us here at PD Camp, and of course....keep rockin!
