1. I've had the same best friend since we were in the 1st grade (Shante of course). Her and her sister Tamika probably knows more about me than anyone, and I'm lucky to have them in my life.
2. I have a very bad fetish for sunglasses. I wear them all the time, I buy them all the time. I have over 150 different pairs & at least 75% of them are designer.
3. My favorite foods are pop tarts, cereal, white rice (has to be long-grain Mahatma), pot-roast with potatoes, and Bryers NATURAL vanilla ice cream.
4. I'm very passionate about politics. I follow politics like most guys follow sports. I guess you could label me as an extremely libral Democrat... but I hate labels (unless we're talking about fashion of course). In this past election, I did some volunteer work for the Obama campaign here in North Carolina at the Democratic headquarters. IT WAS FUCKIN' AWESOME! Probably one of the most fulfilling experiences I've ever had. I feed my political addiction by watching as much CNN & MSNBC as I can... but whenever I want a good laugh I watch FOX news. Their brand of fiction news comedy is very entertaining. But you have to limit yourself, because if you watch it too much FOX, IT WILL ROTT YOUR BRAIN (FYI).
5. I knew I was gay ever since I was 7 or 8. I didn't even know there was a word for it, I just knew I was different from other kids in my school. (FYI - If you want to read my "coming out" story, you can find it among my blog archives. If I weren't so damn busy and tired, I would look for it and post a link here... oh well).
6. I've always looked up to my uncle Raymond, my mom and dad, and my big sister Trina.
7. I'm always late to everything, and I'm an avid procrastinator (FYI - I work better under pressure, and you'll never see me sweat).
8. I've been in love twice (and I'm still in love with one of them. hmmmmmm wouldn't you like to know. lol).
9. I have a degree in finance/business admin. from East Carolina University (FYI - I had to finish my degree online because my medical condition caused me to be absent a lot, and most professors don't give a damn why you missed their class).
10. I started my first business when I was in 6th grade, and carried a breif case to school instead of a bookbag. I even hired a fellow classmate as my secretary, and paid her $5 a week. (lol... I kid you not).
11. I was born with a blood disease called Sickle Cell & sometimes (on average 7 to 10 times a year) I have to be hospitalized. Imagin how it would feel if someone put shattered pieces of glass in your veins, because that's exactly what it feels like when I do have an attack or an episode (sickle crisis). It always makes me feel uncomfortable when I talk about it for some reason,.. so lets move on to number 12.
12. I love any activity that allows me to be creative, like writing and recording music, or graphic design. (FYI - I do both of them professionally, and I'm currently recording a new album which will be released on my birthday July 19th of this year.)
13. I love finding and exploring conspiracy theories (mostly ones about politics, ancient cultures & civilizations).
14. I enjoy watching documentaries.
15. I devour news, information, and everything in the world of POP CULTURE. No matter what subject or current event someone brings up, I know something about it. If you don't believe me, *den cum-try-tess-meh-naow [*said in my Miss Cleo style Jamakian accent*] lol.
16. Five of my most priceless prized valuable "can't live without" posessions are: 1 - My blue & gold photo album (it's more of a continueing "DeMon's Life Story" book. If a perfect stranger picks it up, and starts from the 1st page all the way through to the last, they could almost narrate a complete precise biography of my life.) 2 - My dog Snowball's red collar (he passed away, so I keep his collar to remind me of him). 3 - My Sony Viao laptop (I never leave home without it). 4 - my teddy bear Boo that I've had since childhood. My aunt Millie gave him to me when I was around 3 or 4 years old while I was sick in the hospital. Ever since then, he always accompanies me when I have to be hospitalized. Kind of like a comfort thing, or a good luck charm. 5 - A three pound coral rock that my ex and I found on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale one early morning watching the sunrise. It was our very first day of the move, and we got there about 3 hours before the rental office opened, so we decided to sit one the beach to kill time. It was one of the most peaceful and surrean moments I've ever experienced. We were both stressed and very tired from the long drive, but as soon as we got to the beach, all of that went away. We found the rock, and took it home to use as decoration in our bathroom. Now, whenever I see it, I remember how good that moment felt.
17. My family will always be the most important people in my life, no matter what.
18. When I get depressed, I lock myself in my apartment and cut all communication with everyone, until I work things out. I know that's kind of fucked up, but I'm not paying someone $70 dollars an hour to sit and listen to me whine and complain about how unhappy I am. If you don't like it, then you can pay for therapy and I'll happily go :-) .
19. The first person I "came out" to was my friend Jessie (Kirk). I was 20 and we became fast friends while attending college at ECU, and we both worked at Overton's Water Sports Cataloge in Greenville. It was kind of scary because I wasn't sure how she would react. I wanted to tell someone, and she made me feel at ease, so I took a chance after many many weeks of debating weather I should tell her or not. It was a very positive experience, and it strengthened our already tight friendship. She gave me the courage to come out to my other friends, and not one of them reacted negatively. After I told Jessie, the next person was my best friend Shante (who was amazingly cool about it), then my cousin Terrell. Terrell and I grew up like brothers, so I was EXTREMELY scared of how he would react. I wrote him a letter while he was in bootcamp, and it was agonizing waiting for his reply to arrive in the mail. To my surprise, he told me he already knew, and was just waiting for me to confirm it. He was so cool about it all. I still have that letter in one of my journals. I cried the first time I read it, and I still get teary-eyed every time I re-read it). . . ewwwww, emotions, WTF? Where did that come from? that's soooo not like me (lol)... you better get-your-fill now because I rarely expose that side of me :-) .......................... I'll give you a couple seconds to soak-it-up......... 1,2,3.... ok that's enough. Let's get back to reality now.
20. I'm really into tv crime dramas. My "hands-down" favorite is "LAW & ORDER". I could watch this show 24hours straight for a month and still wouldn't lose interest. Jack McCoy has to be the greatest character ever created for tv. He is THE SHIT! My second fav is the reality/documentary style show "The First 48" on A&E. Coming in at number 3, is "Law & Order SVU" (the guy that plays the character "Elliott Stabler" who's real name is Christoper Maloney, is SO DAMN SEXY!).
21. I HATE talking on the phone for more than 5 or 10 minutes MAX. But, I am an avid texter (I send on average 50 to 60 messages a day).
22. I love to psychoanalyze new people that I meet, and I'm usually right.
23. I do a criminal background check on anyone that my friends date.
24. My favorite of all the cars I've had over the years (11 different one's since I was 16) would have to be the first one my dad bought me when I got my license. It was a gold Audi 5000 fully equipped (soft tan leather, sunroof/moonroof, cd changer, heated seats, power everything, chrome alloy rims, bose sound system, dual climate control, etc. all of those features were kind of rare back then, and could only be found in luxury German vehicles).
25. My boyfriend (at the time) and I moved to Ft. Lauderdale and lived there for about 2 years. I miss that place, and I intend on moving back someday.
26 I've NEVER wrecked any of my cars at all (knock on wood). I did have 2 small fender benders. Both were the other drivers fault.
27. I worked at the Gay & Lesbian Community Center while living in Ft. Lauderdale (Wilton Manors).
28. The best of all my new year's would have to be a tie between the year that I went to NY with Jessie, Jordan, and Ashley, and had a BLAST. You wouldn't even believe some of the stuff that happened, so I'm not even gonna tell ya. The 2nd would be the year me and my friend Tim went to NY and ended up at this amazing party on the roof of a building overlooking Time Square.
29. I try to overcompensate my shyness by being overly outgoing.
30. I'm a lot more sensitive than most people would think, and if someone makes me upset, they could never tell by looking at me, and I won't tell them until I've had a while to get over it. Even my closest friends have never seen me get angry or raise my voice on anyone.
