Sounds Like
Second best band on the Iron Range playing great covers.
If you close your eyes during a "Cash" tune, you'll swear Johnny rose from the dead. And there "Comes a Time" you'll think Neil showed up for a guest appearance!
Seriously tho' the band sounds pretty good but you be the judge and come to one of our shows!
The Prodigal Sons are a new band on the range.. or are they?
Rich Mattson started playing bass under the tutelage of cousin Mark Saari, who played guitar. Rich's brother Glen beat on the drums with them at the 1978 4H "Share the Fun" in Hibbing.
In later years, Mark went off to Connecticut to raise a family and record his own music, while the Mattson brothers went to the Twin Cities to play
original rock and roll (in internationally known groups such as Ol' Yeller, Katastrophy Wife and the Glenrustles). In the 29 years they've been playing music, seperate or together, they've never lived close enough to each other to keep a band rolling.. until now. Now all three are back home on the Range, have settled down and are having a great time playing music together. And the fact that Mark and Rich switch off between bass and guitar and both sing lead and harmonies makes for a wider variety of styles and sounds.
The motto of this band is "If the crowd can't sing it or dance to it, we won't bother with it. " So far it seems to be working, and they've been able to keep the dance floor packed until the last drink is served. Just wait until they start throwing some originals into the mix..
**Please note: So far we've just uploaded some old songs from old projects, we'll get some new Prodigal Sons originals up soon!

Thanks for the add. That's a VERY impressive set list you've got there, but I didn't see "Master of the Bastard Planet." Good luck at the V.C. this summer! ;-)
