The Profane Existence Collective was formed in 1989 by a small group of people with the common goal of building a stronger and more politically active punk rock movement. As a collective, we are a small group of individuals that have joined together our ideas and abilities to work on numerous projects as part of a single entity, in an overall struggle against tyranny and oppression. To this end, we publish a bi-monthly magazine, release numerous records and CDs, run a huge mailorder and wholesale distro, among other things. APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT Greenwashing LP
Exist 113
The long-anticipated full length LP from West Virginia mountain punks APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT is upon us. Nine raging tracks of angry crust punk with crushing riffs and (mainly) female vocals. They have shed one guitar player since their EP, making for a much more raw and organic sounds (more rock and less thrash). Both musically and lyrically the best comparison I can conjure up is Sabbath Bloody Sabbath meets NAUSEA's Extinction LP (original mix). One of the most raw and intense musical experiences Profane Existence has released in a long time and a fitting finalé for Profane Existence Records. Includes all new cover art by Marald and a 16 page booklet inside. Mailorder copies come on GREEN vinyl while they last! Catalog: Exist 113... the number of the beast!
"Greenwashing: The unjustified appropriation of environmental virtue by a company, an industry, a government, a politician or even a non-government organization. Using more money, time and energy on slick PR campaigns aimed at promoting their eco-friendly images, than they do to actually protecting the environment." |

RESISTANT CULTURE Welcome to Reality LP
Exist 109 - LP | MP3: Ecocide
Finally available on vinyl - the 2006 debut album from Los Angeles tribal grind / crust band RESISTANT CULTURE. Vinyl includes a bonus song not available on either CD version!
"Resistant Culture has claims to fame in guitarist Jesse Pintado (RIP), who, post-Napalm Death, was working with the band before his untimely passing, and vocalist Anthony Rezhawk (aka "Tony Militia"), who did the last Terrorizer album alongside Pintado. However, this band more than stands on its own, and I'm astounded that I didn't hear of it earlier. This CD kills. It's crusty grindcore with tribal influences - but the latter are truly tribal, working in Native American drums, chants, and flutes. The riffs are crushing, the recording is crisp, and blastbeats strafe the mix powerfully and precisely. 16 songs, 31 minutes, none less than fierce. Rezhawk's vocals are strong and amazingly understandable: "Clear cut the heart / Strip mine the soul / Nature for profit / It's all out of control." These are sentiments I can definitely get with. The lyrics come in a simple, legible font, and the liner notes fold out to a bad-ass poster. I don't say this often - this CD truly touches my soul. " -invisibleoranges.com
NOTE: due to the current economic climate the release of this LP has been delayed. Current ETA is mid-March 2009 (updated as of 3.2.09)

IMPERIAL LEATHER Do You Know Where Your Children Are? LP / CD
Exist 107 | MP3: Power of Blame
Coming April 2008 is the second full length album from Stockholm’s IMPERIAL LEATHER. This new album sees a shift to a much more raw and primal sound, losing much of the poppy innocence of their previous releases. Whether you are a long-time fan or new to IMPERIAL LEATHER, this album is sure to be a new favorite: defiant female vocals over raw punk rock n’ roll with a hint of classic American hardcore circa early 1980s AGENT ORANGE and WIPERS. High energy hardcore punk from start to finish that will leave you begging for more. Perhaps you have been living under a rock and do not yet know the joys of IMPERIAL LEATHER. This Swedish punk rock "super group" has been going for a half dozen years now and is made up of members whose numerous other projects count among legends, including MEANWHILE, NO SECURITY, DS-13, BRUCE BANNER, ABDUCTEE S.D., SPIDER CUNTS, etc. They have toured Europe and the States on several occasions and this album will be their third appearance on Profane Existence Records. |

BLACKOUT
Stop the Clock CD
Following directly on their heels of their 2007 debut LP, Minneapolis’ BLACKOUT deliver another dose of angst-ridden punk rock'n'roll madness. The music is powerful hardcore punk (read POISON IDEA) with a healthy dose of MOTÖRHEAD style metal. Lyrics are cut-to-the-bone observations about life on the ugly underside of society and are heavily influenced by classic American Blues music. BLACKOUT members have been part of the Profane Existence family for nearly two decades and include members of ASSRASH, PROVOKED, STILLBORN, PHALANX, etc. As with the previous album, this was recorded at the House of Misery studio and a vinyl version will soon be out on Aborted Society Records. Musically this album is much more matured than their previous album and the production is not as roughshod nor rushed as their first release.

STATE OF THE UNION
To the Bitter End... A Discography CD
This discography disc includes five pulverizing new tracks (for an unreleased 12” recorded in 2000) plus their self-titled LP and both EPs in their entirety. STATE OF THE UNION played dark, introspective, and despair-driven gloom core in a style that groups them with likes of DYSTOPIA, CHRISTDRIVER, ASBESTODEATH and even some NEUROSIS and GODLESH. Originally formed in Rapid City, South Dakota, STATE OF THE UNION toured the country extensively and were a staple feature of Minneapolis’ underground punk / crust shows during the mid-late 90’s. On the strength of their live performances and their self-released debut EP, they were picked up by Profane Existence Records, who released their Rez-Erection EP in 1995. Shortly after the release of their second EP, the band sought to escape the dead-end scene of Rapid City relocated as a unit to Seattle, Washington. Once settled they went to work recording their first full length release, also released by Profane Existence in 1998. Although the first pressing of 1000 albums sold out in a matter of weeks, it was never repressed due to a three-year hiatus of Profane Existence Records from 1999-2002. The band recorded a second LP, slated for release in 2000, but the project faltered without a label and STATE OF THE UNION disbanded shortly thereafter. While STATE OF THE UNION remain one of the lesser known bands on Profane Existence Records, they have one of the most fiercely loyal following even to this date. Former SOTU members have no dropped out of the scene by any means and play on today in several other Seattle area bands such as SOD HAULER, WORMWOOD, ARID SEA and THE PRIDS. This CD is a long-overdue final testament and contains practically everything they ever recorded and has a total run time is 79:45!

WARCOLLAPSE Defy! CD
[Exist 104] MP3: Defy!
The Swedish gods of crust break their half-decade of silence to unleash a new masterpiece of epic proportions. Twelve brutal new songs that layer new realms of gutteral intensity to the traditional Swedish d-beat KÄNG of the likes of TÖTALITAR, KRIGSHOT, WOLFBRIGADE, etc. And of course there is plenty of the traditional WARCOLLAPSE sound that emphasizes mournful dirges, captivating guitar leads, and vocal style that is as primal as it is guttteral. If you are a fan of their previoues releases then this will certainly not disappoint - delivering all the goods than made WARCOLLAPSE a name among legends. Their previous titles include the Crust As Fuck Existence CD on Distortion Records, Divine Intoxications LP/CD on Mind Control, split EP's with DISRUPT and EXTINCTION OF MANKIND and a number of other EP's, a live 10" and video, plus several compilation tracks.
