A Journey to the Light

A Novel for All Ages

ON the first day of spring, Zak, his dog Ziggy, and his friend Ivy plan to go fishing. But what they find at the river is beyond their wildest imagination. Professor Aquius Botanicus Angelicus arrives from the planet Quantia in search of pure water to fuel his unlikely spaceship – a giant bubble. He must find the water quickly, in order to return home to his planet for the Rainbow Festival - held once every billion years - so Zak and Ivy agree to help. The task seems simple enough, but as the three friends travel the world, they find it’s not so easy. Can Zak and Ivy help the Professor find the water he needs in time to make it to the Festival? Will they be foiled by the evil, shape-shifting creature, Borrell? Have things on Earth gone so wrong that they’ll never find pure water?

A journey filled with imagination, discovery, and friendship, Professor Angelicus Visits The Big Blue Ball will leave you thinking about Earth – and the rest of the universe –as you never have before.

SOME REVIEWS

BookIdeas.com • 4 1/2 Stars
"Author LBB Ward has written a gem that will hopefully become the bestseller that will change the world...The plot is excellently planned, the descriptive text is is beautiful and rich, and the characters are full of life. The underlying message is a much needed one, while not being a lecture. The book leaves a happy thought in the mind that we can all make a difference." - Heather Froschel

Nature Canada • Spring 2005
“The term Professor Angelicus uses for humans – ‘guardian residents’, lends itself well to a child’s creative imagination…” - Cedrine Huemer

Independent Publisher's Online • Highlighted Title October 2004 • Five Stars
"Living a seemingly normal life in a normal town, young Zak, his dog Ziggy, and his best friend Ivy are suddenly greeted by a strange and unfamiliar character named Professor Aquius Botanicus Angelicus. Stranger still, the professor has arrived on planet Earth in search of the pure water he needs to fuel his spaceship. One would think that on a planet that is 70% water this would be easy...however, Professor Angelicus and the children discover that finding pure water on a planet subject to ever-increasing pollution by humans is not that easy.
...And so the journey begins, as the crew searches for pure water in lakes, oceans, and rainforests. Along the way the children meet and request help from the most unlikely characters: a talking French butterfly, King Crab, Dolphin, and an evil monster that morphs into its victim's greatest fear. By stating pertinent facts about our environment and "teaching without preaching," author L.B.B. Ward does an excellent job of interpreting relevant scientific and social topics. Covering natural history, biology, pollution, war, peace, respect, and community involvement, Ward explains how to become guardians or "sharelings" of the Earth. The author's personal closeness to nature, humanitarian spirit, and gentle voice provide a most needed call to action with this imaginative and clever new adventure novel.." - Jim Barnes, Editor-in-Chief

Philadelphia Inquirer • March 2005
"The writing is truly effervescent. Ward's own respect for life, and her understanding of the joy children feel in the outdoors, makes her book a pleasure to read." - Katy Haegele - Children's Book Reviewer

Joe Renzetti
Academy Award for Music • "The Buddy Holly Story"

"Your words were music to my ears...both inspiring and entertaining. Written for the little kid in all of us."

Midwest Book Review, Children's Book Watch • 5 Stars
"Professor Angelicus Visits the Big Blue Ball is a delightful adventure for all ages. When Professor Aquius Botanicus Angelicus comes to Earth from the planet Quantia in search of pure water to fuel his giant bubble of a spaceship, two best friends agree to help him. But finding pure water is not as easy as may seem, and an evil, shape-shifting creature is on their tail. A colorful story, brimming with imaginative characters, inventive ideas, and just plain fun." - James A. Cox, Editor-in-Chief

Awareness Magazine • Lyda Whiting, Nov - Dec 2004
"...the children discover how closely interwoven all life on Earth is. They also learn how to battle fear with positive thoughts and love in their hearts. Ultimately hopeful and refreshing, this book is suitable for ages 5-14."

Maya K. van Rossum - The Delaware Riverkeeper
Boardmember, The Waterkeeper's Alliance

"My daughter sat enthralled as I read to her about the river, the bay, and the ocean and all their connected systems. She has appreciated the beauty and the woes of the river her whole life - through this book she shared their magic."

Childsake.com, Featured Title - January, 2005
"This engrossing adventure novel takes readers on a magical journey of the imagination while presenting important social and environmental issues...
...This voyage of discovery through skies, cities, towns, rainforests and seas will spark the imagination of readers while inspiring hope, compassion and sharing as well as the necessity of protecting our planet, "the Big Blue Ball".

As you know, I’m an eco-guy and own a company called UrbanScooters.com. Well, I’ve been trying to convince some of our manufacturer’s to produce a more eco-friendly stand-up gas scooter and Go-Ped has stepped up to the challenge. I’d like to throw as much support behind this really cool, propane powered, clean burning, green scooter called the ..Go-Ped Pro-Ped as I can.

If this scooter is successfully launched, they will manufacturer more! Please tell everyone you know about it. If you have any questions, just ask. Check out info and a video about the Go-Ped Pro-Ped!
