Professor Antena appeared in the Brazilian music scene in 1991. Crossing over musical boundaries the band mixed brazilian music (samba, maracatu, BRrock) with the international influences of reggae, dub, jazz and hip hop. Inspired by The Clash, Fishbone, Urban Dance Squad, Toasters, Guru, Beastie Boys, Sly and Robbie, and many others, it was the first brazilian band to incorporate a DJ in its live act, a practice that became common in the late 90's. After only 2 years and over 200 shows Professor Antena signed up with BMG to release in 1994 it' s first album "Professor Antena". In 1998 they release the single "Pipoco" through Warner Music and in 2001 their final album: "Prafrentex" through FNM/Universal. They disbanded in 2003.
Most of the bands members went on to have acomplished solo careers.

Che, drummer, released his first solo album "Sexy 70 - Music Inspired by the Brazilian Sacanagem Movies" in 2005 (the album is available throgh labels in Brazil, Spain, Germany and Japan) and will release worldwide later this year his second album "Papagaio's Fever". His jazzy instrumental tracks have been compared to João Donato, Lincon Olivetti, Azymuth, Eumir Deodato, and many of the brazilian greats.
DJ and Guitar player Eduardo Bid went on to become a prolific producer, working with Chico Science & Nação Zumbi and founding of Funk Como Le Gusta. His First solo album, Bambas & Biritas came out in 2005, with a constelation of artists playing along with him such as Seu Jorge, Elza Soares, Marku Ribas and many others.
Sergio Bartollo, bass player, went on with his work with Andre Abujamra in Karnak and founded Funk Como Le Gusta with Bid and trombone player Tiquinho.
Tiquinho, star trombone player, now work sin Jorge Benjor's Banda do Zé Pretinho, Funk Como Le gusta, Clube do Balanço and is preparing his first solo album.
Alessandro Delicato, guitar player, is about to release his album with reggae band Nomad.
Professor Antena had a couple of other great bass players: Arthur Buccione, Serginho Carvalho (who went on to play with Brazilian great Djavan) and Marcelo Trotta.
