I like teaching, which I've been doing for twenty years. In the US, I've taught at Northeastern University, the Art Institute of Boston, the University of Maine, the University of New England, and the University of New Mexico. I also lived and taught in four countries: Japan, Fiji, Venezuela, and Costa Rica. My degrees are in English and I've taught classes in writing (academic, expository, professional, technical) and literature (mostly American Lit). I've also taught classes in film theory and criticism, linguistics, dramatic arts, history of ideas, public speaking, and sociology.
Music
That guy singing right now--that's me. Yeah, I like music. I tend to prefer catchy and memorable tunes, sing-a-long stuff: seventies and eighties classic rock especially.
Movies
Visceral, serious, epic flicks.
Television
Classic TV (All in the Family, Gilligan's Island) and CNN. HBO series like "The Sopranos" and "Six Feet Under." I don't watch much else.
Books
Mostly nonfiction: politics, history, critical theory, and memoirs like those of David Sedaris.
About me: Well, first of all, that dude playing the piano and singing right now--that's me. So I like music, but I must admit that my range is pretty limited to classic rock-type stuff. This is mostly because of the fact that I'm self-trained and only learned how to play what I listened to on the radio growing up. What else? I've lived in the following places in the U.S: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, California, New Mexico, and now Michigan. And I've lived in the following places outside the U.S: Japan, Fiji, Venezuela, and Costa Rica. So I get around a lot. My job? Since 1986 I've taught English (mostly) in a variety of places and now I'm in the Humanities Department at Michigan Tech, where I'm working on a Ph.D in Rhetoric and Technical Communication. I am really really liking the Upper Peninsula and all its natural beauty. And as far as MySpace goes, I'm always up for meeting folks who are outgoing, adventurous, thoughtful, kind, and--most importantly--capable of putting up with the likes of me!

Hi Kevin! Yay for summer vacations! I am fryin' out here in this RV in Artesia, NM. Working a contract at a nursing home. It's a nice less-stressful change, with most of the residents "pleasantly demented". Plan on heading back to Panama after this contract in August. Todavia habla espanol in UP??
Oh good--Enjoy your visit! How I long to get outta "Dodge" lol-- oh well, at least the weather IS improving anything is better than a yard full of snow--I've been putzing in the yard. Anyway, I sure hope I ride this year-- Lord knows I desperately need it!! And it will surly help boost my metabolism!
Hi Kevin, I'm bad at keeping in touch. Despite that I am moved to say hello and check in to see how it's all going-- Are you up here for the summer yet? Any travel plans? I was just thinking about you and wondering how things are :) I so desperately need the warm weather to come and STAY!!! :)
Anyway, take care-- Wanted to check in and say hello Michele
I am right next door to arcata... about a 5 minute drive. I am in physical theater school here. I graduate in June and am trying to decide what I am doing after that. I just found out yesterday I got accepted into the clown conservatory in San Francisco but not sure if that is what I want to do yet. What is going on in your life?
Not much new to speak of. Gio had her baby, a cute little girl. I don't see her much, she's very busy. I've been laying low mostly, not going out a lot. We're having problems with our landlord and his attorney, both of whom seem quite deranged. Oh well.
Is your job pretty secure? I hope so. I guess Spring must be making an occasional appearance now. I lived in Chicago about this time of year and we had a few nice days in April, more in May, the June felt close to Summer.
