Lumumba Carson AKA Professor X released seven albums with the group X Clan. The X Clan was a musical group formed two decades ago, and is recognized as a beacon of hope and a voice for the inner-city youth. Like their forefathers, X Clan used rap music and lyrics to convey a powerful message of political and social awareness for inner-city minorities. Professor X worked with The Pink Caddy Ride and his goal was to incite unregistered voters to register, and to revive civic awareness for disillusioned voters. He was also in the studio with Rza, Gza, Killah Priest, TrAeDonya, Sean Price, Supernatural and DJ Mercury working on a new album to be released 2006.
Albany New Yorks' Own Dj Mercury Has Been Working The Wheels Of Steel Since 1980 And Had a Hip Hop Radio Show Called "Midnite Madness" Back In 1984, Making Him The Youngest Dj With A Radio Show On The East Coast At The Age Of 15. Now At 38 And Turned Off To The Negative So Called Hip Hop Music Of Today (The Bubble Gum B*S Being Played On The Airwaves), Looking To Bring THE PINK CADDY RIDE To Your Area.

Professor X was a huge contribution to the Consciousness of Hip Hop but also his challenge to those to become advanced in thinking through his music.. like "they don't know Jack" although my beliefs are not what they used to be in terms of nationalism.. I am still appreciative of him being a huge catalyst in my life at the time..

The Hispanic Heritage Society of Texas is comprised of young men and women of Hispanic background as well as students with an interest in Hispanic cultures. Our mission is to serve as a support group for students of Latin American or Spanish descent, as well as educate communities in Texas about Hispanic cultures and issues, in both Latino countries and in the United States. It is our hope that by sharing our cultures and issues with the community, our efforts will break old stereotypes of the Hispanic world and contribute to a greater understanding between the members of our growing multi-cultural state.

There are many developments on the legal and other fronts concerning my client, Mumia Abu-Jamal. We remain in active litigation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and also have issues pending in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Mumia has been honored by fellow writers through acceptance into a prestigious organization, a Nobel Prize winner recently visited him, an excellent new book was released in France, a leading British newspaper has published a major article on Mumia, and a superb film recently premiered in London and Rome. The following are the highlights.
PEN membership Mumia has been accepted into the membership of PEN, the worldwide human-rights organization of prominent writers. This is a great honor. He was thrilled upon learning that the application I filed on his behalf last spring was granted. In two decades of knowing each other, I have not seen Mumia so happy. The recognition from his peers is well deserved.
In a quarter of a century of being locked up in a small cell on Pennsylvania's death row, Mumia's literary output has been prodigious. He has written five outstanding books that are published in various languages, and also writes weekly commentaries that are published and broadcast internationally.
PEN was founded in 1921 to dispel national, ethnic, and racial hatred, to promote understanding among all countries, and defend the freedom to write. PEN American Center, into which Mumia has been accepted, is the largest of the 145 centers in 104 countries of International PEN. It exists to fight for freedom of expression, represent the conscience of world literature, and foster friendship and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere. It is the world’s oldest human rights organization and also the oldest international literary group.
The support provided by Alice Walker, E.L. Doctorow, Bell Chevigny and other members of the PEN American Center, New York, was invaluable. I am especially

Today would have been Lumuba Carson's 51st birthday for those of you who dont know who he is, He was also know as Professor-X original member of the group X-Clan and founder of the Blackwatch Movement back in 1989. He's done and given up so much not just for this rap thing but for his people in general. This was a man along with Paradise, Brother J, Sugar Shaft, Lin Que, Queen Mother Rage, YZ, and even the late Sonny Carson with countless others brought consciouness to the fore front in rap music back in the day. They didnt steal the show they were the show people may deny thier rightful place in hip hop history... BUT Professor-X was a true teacher and I was proud to have been one of his student and honored to walk along his side as well as everyone else from the original circle of the movement! They took me in as one of thier own made me a part of thier family and 18 years later I still say there was no time in my life where I felt as good as I did with them! So on your birthday today my teacher, my brother, my mentor, and my friend... I salute you fist to the chest and over the heart for all that you have done not just for me but for all of us as well... The freedom or death mentality you have installed in still within the many lives you have touch rest in peace soldier hope you and my baby brother are taking a swig of rum on the road with Ollegba!
Freedom Or Death! Nuff respect to my elders and ancestors on this day!
Soulman a.k.a. Lost Soul Original member of the Blackwatch Movement Original member of Da Last Suppah, Newest member of Brother Hood
