Hourglass is an original Progressive-Metal band from Utah.
-CD BABY Review-
The long-awaited double album from the progressive metal band combines amazing chops, soaring lead and background vocals, epic songs, and stylistic versatility
-LAZORS EDGE Review-
I don't think Brick Williams knows how to do anything small. The band's third album is a true epic that sprawls across 2 CDs packed with amazing prog metal. The vocalist slot continues to be a revolving door. Michael Turner is the new singer and he's the best one yet. The album is basically all long tracks - the title track clocks in at over 30 minutes. The band is influenced by a myriad sources, most notably Dream Theater, Rush, Fates Warning and Rush. The album has a great flow to it which is hard considering how long it is. The reason being that while there are incredibly long instrumental passages they are balanced out by extremely strong melodies that will stay with you. Business wise the band seems content to keep things done on a small scale - they remain unsigned and only play local. Its a bit of a shame as these guys are about as good as any other metal band going these days and should get more exposure - at the very least a ProgPower appearance. One of the best prog metal albums you will hear this year. Highly recommended.
