A true laissez-faire, Market Anarchist system would bear little resemblance to current State Capitalisms and Corporatocracy. Market Anarchy/Anarcho-capitalism could however be made to satisfy many positive 'Progressive' ends through non-coersive means, especially with NGO's and other institutions of civil society; with increased private philanthropy undertaken by liberals and progressives; with innovative forms of employee ownership and business-worker arrangements; with new forms of social entrepreneurship; with cooperatives, intentional communities, franchise activism, panarchist alliances, and even co-existing voluntary Libertarian Socialist or other Social Anarchist communes or Anarcho-Syndicalist unions. This is especially true with the use of current and future technological advancements. Market Anarchy and Anarcho-capitalism as I see them are decidedly not Conservative or reactionary; nor is Market Anarchism an apologist, as mainstream Libertarianism too often is, for current oppressive economic power structures often illegitimately created, maintained, supported and abetted through the power of the State. My position on this is spelled out cogently in Eric Lormand's How to be a Progressive Libertarian
My Market Anarchist position lies somewhere between Agorism and
Libertarian Socialism above... and more broadly between the Alliance of the Libertarian Left and the Freedom Democrats. In spite of the inevitable vociferous disagreement from some quarters, I identify myself as an unalterated Anarchist and as of the Left, albeit a Left derived from Classical Liberalism via a different path than, and differing in many ways from, current mainstream Liberalism, Progressivism and Social Democracy or Democratic Socialism. As an Anarchist I reject both modern State Capitalism or Corporatism, as well as State Socialism and those strains of Center-Left Liberalism and Progressivism imbued with Socialist collectivist ideology; however I realize that, being derived from that same Classical Liberal tradition, we do still share many underlying values and should be able to work synchronistically together on many issues. To do this we must reframe the issues in a common language... certainly a very difficult task, but one I believe it is possible to achieve with a great deal of work and commitment.
I place more emphasis on the need for working through the political system (in the near-term) than do most Agorists or Anarcho-Capitalists. While I recognize that electoral politics is fatally flawed, that it alone can never provide workable and just solutions, and must ultimately be transcended, I suggest that working both inside and outside of the political process to create alternatives to State power and redirect resources there, and doing so in strategic partnership with Progressives whenever possible, is the most realistic and productive way of moving towards a free society.

Heroes
Members of the German resistance group The White Rose, Munich 1942. From left: Hans Scholl, his sister Sophie Scholl, and Christoph Probst. The group became martyrs for their non-violent resistance to the Nazi regime.
My name is Cliff, but I'm known to my close friends by my middle name, Allan. I work at a public library in the St. Louis area; I'm the one who opens the cartons of books as they come in and does the initial work on the records to get them ready for cataloging.
I also moderate several Yahoo! groups: is a transhumanist, future-oriented group;
absurd pop romance is a resource for Live365 Indie broadcasters; The Women of 'ER' is for fans of the female characters and the actresses who play them on the long-running NBC series; and, last but not least,
Linda Kelsey Online is a fansite dedicated to the red-headed actress best known for playing reporter Billie Newman on the 1977-82 series
Lou Grant.
The apparent contradiction between my Progressive politics and affiliation with the Democratic Party, and my Market Anarchism (usually seen as situated on the right) I explain as primarily tactical. As you can see by the content on this page, I share many positions in common with contemporary Progressives. I feel that the most realistic way forward is to engage in the political process, and that ironically the Democratic Party, in spite of it's errors, is more conducive to recovering the spirit of Liberty than is Conservatism or the thoroughy discredited Republicans. Politics alone cannot create the free society I wish to see; but capturing it to the full extent possible within the political process is a necessary prerequisite for making Market Anarchy more than mere theory.
I'm also interested in Cosmology, String and M Theory, SETI and Exobiology, Nanotechnology and Quantum Computing, current and future developments in Materials Science, life extension, Artifical Intelligence and the merging of biology and technology, the Singularity (as described by such transhumanist thinkers as Ray Kurzweil) ... in spite of which I'm also a 'polytheist' and 'neo-pagan' in the (metaphorical and psychological) neo-jungian sense... as well as being a secular humanist and atheist.
I've been a vegetarian for the last 20 years, since my early brushes with Zen Buddhism and Taoism (both of which still influence my thinking). I read a great deal on Fascism, Nazism and the Holocaust, contemporary politics, social issues and policy debates, intellectual and social history, the humanities and current events. One of my main intellectual tasks is to create a synthesis between my Progressive Libertarian qua Anarchist politics and Transhumanist thought.
I attend TV fandom conventions and collect TV and movie memorabilia (mostly ephemera such as 8x10 publicity photos and candids of actresses; cast photos, magazines, fanfic and posters). In addition to contemporary actresses, I collect on Myrna Loy, Greta Garbo, Greer Garson and the silent film goddess Louise Brooks and other silent-era actresses. I also collect Coca-Cola collectibles and other 20th century commercial graphic design and packaging, as well as art books.
I'm deeply into Modernist art; especially painting, photography and graphic design from the Post-Impressionists, Pre-Raphaelites, Symbolists and Decadents of the late 19th century through the contemporary scene. among my friends you'll see many of my favorite visual artists. I'm also interested in Modern and Postmodern architecture, furniture, graphic and interior design.
In terms of fiction: at community college I took a lot of literature classes and was really into literary criticism; I drew a lot from the Archetypal Criticism of Northrop Frye
Aside from the serious stuff I also have a few guilty pleasures... apocalyptic fiction, UFO's, conspiracy theories, weird science and your odder paranormal fare. I've amassed a huge and wide-ranging library of books... most of which I haven't gotten around to reading yet because working in a Library exposes me to a massive amount of new new titles and keeps me permanently swamped.
I watch C-SPAN, Book TV and other news and current affairs programming religiously; read a lot of news and commentary ... and do a large amount of online activism and issue-oriented mailing.
INTP - the Architect (You scored 36% I to E, 15% N to S, 66% F to T, and 57% J to P!)
You are more introverted than extroverted. You are more intuitive than observant, you are more thinking based than feeling based, and you prefer to go with the flow rather than have a routine. The single word to describe your type is the Architect, which belongs to the larger group of rationals. You wish to sculpt the world around you. Others often find you arrogant, yet you have no desire to direct others, only to inform them. You must know the structure of things, and have a voracious appetite for knowledge. You are very rational in everything you do, and probably consider yourself smarter than most.
As a romantic partner, you can be playful with great energy to get things started, but not quite as good on follow through. You may have a tendency to hurt the more emotional types unintentionally by not sharing your own reactions and feelings as you can get swept up in your own ideas and projects. You want to be appreciated for your ability to respond quickly and to fix problems creatively. You need plenty of time to yourself - therefore your parnter must respect your need for independence and originality.
Your group summary: Rationals (NT)
Your type summary: INTP
Your life is guided by the concept of Existentialism: You choose the meaning and purpose of your life.
“Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does.”
“It is up to you to give [life] a meaning.”
--Jean-Paul Sartre
“It is man's natural sickness to believe that he possesses the Truth.”
--Blaise Pascal
Civil Libertarian (You scored 93% Personal Liberty and 54% Economic Liberty!)
A civil libertarian believes in little to no government intervention on personal matters and moderate government intervention on economic matters. As the name implies, a Civil Libertarian's main concern is with civil liberties - personal matters. They tend to be strongly opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, and foreign intervention. Civil Libertarians may tend to believe in a social safety net, but to a lesser extent then most leftists. Strong Civil Libertarians are somewhat inclined towards supporting capitalism as an economic system, while others believe in a "mixed" system between different aspects of capitalism and socialism. A civil libertarian strongly believes in protecting personal liberty. They strongly support self-ownership and privacy.
