I'm proud to say I had a hand in coordinating an event that was hosted by Harrison of "Harrison on the Edge" and Gandhi's grandson, Arun Gandhi. A glorious Hollywood styled, Parade for World Peace! Here is a clip from the parade:

From my love of humanity, was born the need to understand politics. I originally studied psychology and theology. There was a time when I'd only watch things like cartoons and documentaries, because I found the news far too depressing. These days I know that it's understanding and being active within politics that can make a REAL difference in everybody's life (can't beat the system, but you sure can join it as a citizen!). I play my part by writing about it as I learn about it myself, in hopes that I can somehow inspire others to get involved. My "official" blog is here. I'm wishing for an active majority that will take part by taking a few minutes here and there to do a couple of things, such as; contacting their representatives, signing petitions, attending rallies, and most importantly, VOTE. Education is key and knowledge is power, but compassion and empathy save lives.
Other than that......pool has always been a winning past time. Anybody care to get shhhkoooled? Outdoors almost anything, except in extreme white-girl-melting heat (FYI: Doesn't take much). The only sports I can stand to watch fall under the X-games category. Participating in them, mostly a thing of the past (gymnastics & track). I've had great fun the few times I went snow boarding, and would like to do more of that. Travel - duh! Games - only in fun! Music - double duh! My rock star man- ooohhhh yeah!!!!
Music
I love the heavier, alternative stuff...but definitely dig all the funky extensions. Classics like Zepplin & Sabbath. Also into the Southern rock-ish stuff like, Steve Miller, Boston, Lynard, and the Eagles. My first ever serious music attachment was Prince. Nobody beats his funk. Although, Fishbone is ALL there on their own level. The long & short of it: Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, old Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Everlast, Chevelle, CKY, Bjork, Morcheeba, Marcy's Playground, Blondie, Berlin, Cake, and too many other things to list. Whilst in Seattle I loved: SadHappy, BAM BAM, L7, Rhino Humpers, Dandelion Soup, and Sir-Mix-a-Lot brings me right back. My favorite while in SF would be Mingus Amongus.
Movies
This should be required for all Americans to watch:
Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land
Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land provides a striking comparison of U.S. and international media coverage of the crisis in the Middle East, zeroing in on how structural distortions in U.S. coverage have reinforced false perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Possibly one of the best films ever, and my faux heroine:
I dig a good thriller too, and I'd have to say "The Ring" gets my vote- even though it's a remake. "Seven" is a classic example of my taste in horror, and psycho-thrill is my way.
Also, from the world of mainstream: Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, The Outsiders, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, Usual Suspects, Dead Again (in it's time, there's no denyin'), The Color Purple, The Princess Bride, Napolian Dynamite, Eternal Sunshine, Syriana, Goodnight & Good Luck, What the Bleep do We know?...and Finding Nemo is a HUGE love of mine!
I'm sure I've managed to miss many in mention, but you can rest assured that there are few exceptions to my distaste for what I consider "boy flicks" (hard-core action, gratuitous killing and war themes). I know, I know, horror is bloody too...but it's usually an intricate plot that really gets me into it. I've been known to hide my eyes now and again in a horror flick. ***If you want to see a film that is silly, fun and what I consider to be the exceptional boy-flick entertainment...The Kung-Fu Hustle!
Television
Haven't really watched anything for a while. I'd have to say that "Law & Order" has been a long time favorite, and the only two newer shows I've found worthy of watching are, "Reaper" and I just LOVE myself some, "Women's Murder Club"!!! The only other things I really like to watch are cartoons (Angery Beavers, Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad - to keep it SHORT). I enjoy Bill Mahr when I get a chance at my friends' homes (whom have the cable thingy). Otherwise, I consider the very best in reality TV to be C-SPAN, but I watch it live via the net. I've been missing for ages: Kids in the Hall, and In Living Color- what ever happened to those days???????? Will the fun ever start again?
Books
I like horror books- Clive Barker is the best, and no hope for the rest!!! Try "Imajica" to start your own Barker addiction, and "Weaveworld" is a close second. Besides books that are politically or socially enlightening, I'm mostly into things like: Holographic Universe, The Alchemist, Mutant Message Downunder, Ishmael, Fingerprints of the Gods; Evidence of Earth's lost Civilization, Johnathon Livingston Seagull, Illusions, and anything about Edgar Cayce. My all time favorite is "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran - which you can find in my friends - So go check it out! (It is best to start from the oldest--->newest blog, in order to read it closest to the original order)
Eye-Opening Books:
Confessions of an Economic Hitman
Conservatives Without a Conscience
The Best War Ever
Golden Gulag
Blackwater
Armed Madhouse
The Politics of Truth
The Secret History of the World; and How to get Out Alive
***This last one is by Red Pill Press - and they have several seriously fantastic books!!!
Heroes
My mother, Wendi Anderson, Caroline Lund, Catherine Grison, Eric Perrier, Constance D'hautuille, Chris Williamson, my grandfather, my great aunt Betty B, Gabriel Hammersmith, Dr. Ruth, Loren Hutton, Prince (he did it HIS way), Emily Strange, & Happy Bunny. Most of my heroes are people I really know- friends and family. Although I have found a new one that I don't know personally, but has delivered quite a bit of inspiration:
I also have a photo album that celebrates my everyday heroes, and you will find that a few of them are my activist friends here on My Space.

I should say first, that I'm all about the people. It's ALL about interaction here. That being the case, it seems ridiculous to respond to a request to be friends when a person can't be bothered to write a little something. If you can't express a little about why you'd like to get to know me, then what are we EVER going to talk/write about? I am NOT a friend collector.
OK, here goes.....I'm an info junkie and politics fanatic, and the way the world functions today has made for an insatiable appetite, and determined resolve for truth. I'm always up for any discussion about the ultimate social no-nos; politics & religion - I'm totally taboo like that! Religiously speaking, I love to explore the dynamics of faith. Mother Nature's art and our own, are my "shinny objects". When it comes to why I got involved in politics...suffice it to say that I just couldn't stand to see people suffer anymore. You certainly don't have to agree with me to start a conversation, and I will probably enjoy the discussion even MORE if you don't - as long as it's respectful. I also enjoy discussing/debating topics such as environment, nutrition, and human nature in general. I've a heavy addiction to talk-radio, and if you don't know my talk radio goddess Randi Rhodes, you should at least check in regularly with her invaluable Homework page. Randi's show is also hosted on the largest website of archived progressive talkers on the net:
White Rose Society
For you history buffs , here's a progressive that I have the utmost respect for (and is also hosted at White Rose Society): Thom Hartmann

What I really enjoy and respect, is the straight forward approach (vocal expressionists!). I lived in and have loved deeply, Europe - and I in part, attribute my Europhile behavior to being half Canadian. The last place I moved from was San Francisco. Loved it, miss it immensely. Life in SF is my motto in daily practice, "Live & Let Live."
I was published as a News & Politics columnist on an online magazine for the last three years, but now I'm carrying that column by the same name, "Progressive Mews" - on blogspot.
Here is a way for you to browse and/or subscribe to my blog here on My Space:

Who I'd like to meet: People who speak their minds, those that are as honest with themselves as they are with others. People that feel good in their skin, no matter how strange they may be. The open minded, curious, and activists - of course! Music and art lovers. Make me laugh, and you're golden in my book. Humor is my savior. I'm always interested in those that love and respect the art of communication. If we don't see eye-to-eye, all the better (with the exception of prejudice).
I’m NOT interested in anybody that is laying in wait for a chance at me in ANY other way except friendship; or in seeking an ally in civic duties. Respect is key and appreciated when returned. Nor do I have a care, nor need for; liars, sociopaths, and the afore mentioned bigots or nihilists....DUH! Live and let live... but from WAAYYY over there if you're the later group! Gosh.
