Project Lumens is the collaborative effort of numerous musicians and vocalists. Based in Atlanta, but with members in New York and Washington DC, the group was formed with the sole purpose of creating original art. The music that we create is not entertainment, it is the lives of the musicians expressed vocally and instrumentally, and none of this was done for any other reason than the experience of making amazing music. This is not a game - it is a musical movement- the expression of love through art. The group consists of two emcees, six producers (two of which play live instruments), one singer, and a DJ. The two lyricists (Optimis and Stoney) are both part of another group in Atlanta called Hikru. They began performing together in '98 and regularly freestyled at open mics, as well as were featured artists at the Historic Royal Peacock, Kaya, The Ying Yang Cafe, and The Apache Cafe. In New York City the group has appeared at Columbia University, a storefront in Times Square, Jimmys Uptown, Café, The Romote Lounge, and the legendary Apollo. I hope that you like lyrics. This project is the culmination of a lifetime's worth of experiences transferred into a double album.
