Who I'd like to meet:
my story is of my grandfather that abused alcohol. The only memories I have of him are when he drank he would beat my grandma. I remember the blood and the screams. I remember my uncles who at the time where children themselves try and stop him. I remember going to my sisters crib to get her out because she was crying. Now I know some are saying "why didn't she leave?" Well he told her he would kill her...and she believed him. I mean come on he did come close so many times, why would he just tell her that? Well the day that he died I thought was supposed to be a sad one right? I mean I was only 10. But I remember my grandma sitting there LAUGHING.... Now as a child I did not understand this. I thought for sure something was wrong with this woman...she laughed at his funeral...I remember thinking she has done went crazy. But when I asked the preacher about it, I was told it was her way to cope. She was happy that she was finally free. As I got older I found out that during his drinking rampage the he also would sexually assult my Aunts and also my mom when she was younger. So I guess it was a death in a way...A death of the love for a family that never existed. A death of a memory that a grandchild should have of her grandparents. A death of a lost innocence.

I have greatly been affected by alcohol abuse in my life and so have my children. I do not know any one really who’s life has not been effected by alcohol.
The first bad experience I had with alcohol was on the morning following my 8th or 9th birthday I can not remember how old I was turning. My Mom and Dad always went to clubs and bars on the weekend. They came to get my sister and I from the babysitters to take us home. A friend of my Mom and Dad’s was to drunk to drive home but they offered to drive him. I remember my Dad trying to get him to set in the front seat with them, but he insisted on setting in the back of the car with my sister and I. He made it sound like he did not want to be crowding my parents. It seems like as soon as we got on the road to take him home he started touching me in my crotch area and he would not stop rubbing me. It did not matter which way I turned he found a way to touch me.
I was too scared to say any thing, because even at that age I knew if my Dad found out he would have killed him and I did not want my Dad to go to prison. It seemed like forever till we got him to his house and I remember when he got out of the car he just looked at me and smiled. I was in tears when we got home. My mother asked me what was wrong and I said my allergies were bothering. I had to see this man after this and I never told anyone. He soon died in a hunting accident. He and my Uncle went hunting. They killed a deer and my Uncle went back to get a truck. While he was gone, the man that molested me was skinning the deer and the knife came back and got caught in his throat.
My children’s father is also an alcoholic and he is no longer in their life. When we were married he was always bringing them home drunk and beating on me. I finally got away from him. Now my children never see their father though. He is to busy to even get them a card on their birthday or even see them. He does not have money to pay child support, yet always has a beer in hand.
If you drink and you think it is only your business you are dead wrong. It affects everyone you are around. The friends you have that you call your ‘Drinking Buddies” should not be trusted either.
This is my story and just wanted to share how alcohol abuse has affected my life. I hope if you read this it makes you stop and think who you have your children around could affect their life forever!

I am 5 years sober....thanks to the fact that I drank and took xanax and didnt wakeup for a day and half back in 2002....i drank because of anxiety and an abusive alcoholic husband....then in 2003 my sister was killed im a drunk driving crash...both my grandfathers were alcoholics...it goes on and on...

I drank from the age of 12 to 42.. I am 51 years old and I am sooooo happy that I have quit drinking. One thing i never did was DRINK AND DRIVE! I was so mean when I drank. I Hurt my family by saying mean things to them, that really hurt them. I hated myself every time I got drunk.. I missed out on seeing my grandchildren grow up, because I was constantly drunk..I have lost a lot of friends by drunk driving. Now my 2 sons drink a lot and drive while drinking. I've begged them and got on my knees crying for them to STOP,but it's no use.. I blame myself for their drinking.. They've seen me drink all their lives.

LAST WEEK IN CANCUN MEXICO WITH MY FAMILY , WIFE ,AND 3 DAUGHTERS WHO ARE 10, 13, 17 AND I AM IN MARGARITAVILLE,RESRAUNT BAR, HAVING DINNER & LISTENING TO A BAND , AND THEY START A FUN SHOW THEY ASK FOR VOLENTEERS TO WIN A TEE SHIRT SO I VOLENTEERED , THEY SAID IT WAS A DANCE CONTEST SO MY DAUGHTERS ARE WATCHING ME , MY WIFE WENT TO THE HOTEL BEACUASE SHE WAS FEELING SICK, THEY START BY GIVING THE 4 CONTESTENTS A WARM UP( I WAS ONE OF THE 4 CONTESTENTS) THE WARM UP BEING "MEXICAN WATER" AKA TEQUILA SHOT IN A SHOT GLASS. KEEP IN MIND I AM 16 YEARS SOBER, MY DAUGHTERS STARTED TO FREAK OUT CRY, AND GET WORRIED , WHEN ASKED TO DO THE SHOTS ALL TOGETHER I FAKED IT, AND GAVE IT TO THE MC AND HE SAID THANKS SOMEONE HAS TO DO THE CLEAN UP, THEN AFTER THE SHORT DANCE CONTEST(FUNNY ONE) THEY GAVE THE T SHIRT TO THE GUY NEXT TO ME AND THE OTHER THREE INC ME A FROZEN MEXICAN MARGARITA. AND WAS ASKED TO DOWN IT ON STAGE , I TOLD THEM I CANT BECAUSE I HAVE "MONTEZUMAS REVENGE" (THE RUNS FROM MEXICAN WATER) I WALKED OFF STAGE AND I TOLD MY DAUGHTERS THAT THERE IS PEER PRESSURE ALL THROUGHOUT LIFE AND EVEN WHEN I AM ON STAGE AND 200 PEOPLE ARE YELLING AND ROUTING FOR ME I STILL CAN SAY "NO" TO ALCOHOL

My friend quit drinking in 1980 and has not touched it since. He has damage to his pancreas from all the drinking. His body is scarred from numerous surgeries. He became diabetic due to the damage done to his pancreas. His little brother is 41 now and has spent most of his life behind bars all due to drinking or drinking and driving and resisting arrest. When he is sober, he is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Very polite, soft spoken, good looking as can be. But last time he got out, started drinking as soon as probation was over. Wound up right back in the slammer again. Such a shame!! Wasting his own life. At least he has been lucky enough not to hurt anyone else----so far. Also my friend remembers when his daughter was little and he drove her home. She was about 5 years old then. When they got home, she said, "Daddy, you should have let me drive." Now what does that tell you. People PLEASE don't drink and drive. In my home state, the cab companies offer free rides home for those who are too drunk to drive. If your state has that, then USE IT for God's sakes. And if they don't, get a friend to drive you home. If you can't do that, then STAY AT HOME AND DO YOUR FRIGGING DRINKING! I really dislike drunks anyway. There is no need to get that messed up on booze! There is alot more positive things you could be doing with your life. Drinking is going to get you nowhere fast. Might as well say your life is over. Just hoping you don't take anyone out with you!!!
